PAO chief shot
A shooting at the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) office in Mueang Nonthaburi district left Pol Col Thongchai Yenprasert, chief executive of the Nonthaburi PAO, with gunshot injuries and he later died at Pranangklao Hospital.

Police said officers found Thongchai and his driver with gunshot injuries at the scene, and both were rushed to hospital for treatment after the attack on Monday (August 10, 2026).
The Bangkok Post reported that former Nonthaburi MP Chalong Riewraeng stormed into the provincial administration organisation office and shot dead Thongchai about 11am.
The Nation Thailand said police received a report of the shooting at the Nonthaburi PAO office on Monday and cordoned off the area as officers began investigating the circumstances.
Motive and surrender
The Nation Thailand reported that police identified Chalong Riewrang as the alleged gunman and said the former MP surrendered at a police station following the shooting.
According to the Nation Thailand, Chalong described Thongchai as a close friend and said he was angry after Thongchai showed no concern when Chalong encountered difficulties.
The Bangkok Post said Chalong allegedly forced his way into Pol Col Thongchai's office and fired several shots at him about 11am, and police reported that Chalong made a phone call to Anchalee Paireerak during a live broadcast.
The Bangkok Post also said Chalong told Anchalee to drop the weapon, calm down and wait for police at the PAO office as Naew Na staff were calling Rattanathibet police station.
Investigation and next steps
Police and other relevant agencies cordoned off the area and began a detailed examination of the circumstances, including collecting evidence and questioning witnesses to determine the cause, motive and full sequence of events.

The Nation Thailand said the investigation was aimed at legal proceedings after officers gathered evidence and questioned witnesses at the scene beside the PAO office in Mueang Nonthaburi district.
The Bangkok Post reported that Chalong was arrested and taken to Rattanathibet police station after the shooting at the PAO office.
Meanwhile, the Global Times, citing Xinhua, said the police were collecting evidence at the scene and investigating the details of the case after the chairman of the provincial administrative organization, Thongchai Yenprasert, was shot in the head at about 11 a.m. local time.
