Fifth creditor distribution of about $900 million begins July 31, 2026. Total repayments around $10B, though some outlets report about $11B.

FTX’s Fifth $900M Round
FTX’s Recovery Trust began its fifth creditor distribution by releasing approximately $900 million to creditors on July 31, 2026, as the exchange’s November 2022 collapse continued to unwind through staged payouts. The distribution is tied to a June 16, 2026 record date, with eligibility limited to creditors whose claims were verified and registered on the official claims docket by that date.
The FTX Recovery Trust said the fifth payout would be handled by three designated Distribution Service Providers—BitGo, Kraken, and Payoneer—while eligible creditors typically received funds within one to three business days of the distribution date. For creditors who had not yet completed verification, a hard six-month countdown to claim eligibility began on July 31, 2026, according to the trust’s official press releases published via PR Newswire.

Kroll breach and phishing
As the $900 million payout rolled out, Tech Times reported that scammers had been running personalized phishing campaigns against FTX creditors since at least 2023 using real names, email addresses, and account balances stolen from Kroll’s systems. Tech Times traced the breach to an August 2023 SIM-swap attack on a Kroll Restructuring Administration employee’s mobile phone that gave attackers access to Kroll’s cloud-based systems and a database containing names, email addresses, mailing addresses, FTX account numbers, and account balances.
Creditor activist Sunil Kavuri said he receives fake FTX emails daily, and Tech Times described how the FTX Recovery Trust included a phishing advisory in its July 17 official distribution announcement that "The Trust will never ask creditors to connect their crypto wallets." Tech Times also cited a fraudulent September 2025 third distribution email that told recipients: "Kroll, the restructuring administrator for FTX's Chapter 11 bankruptcy, is preparing distributions…" and directed them to an address at [email protected].

Who gets paid next
Beyond the immediate July 31 distribution, CryptoSlate said that allowed claim holders still not onboarded faced a six-month window from July 31 before they may forfeit distributions on an allowed claim.
CryptoSlate further reported that the plan waterfall set different fifth-round payment percentages for classes, including Class 5A Dotcom Customer Entitlement Claims slated for an incremental 9% payment and Class 7 Convenience Claims at a 120% cumulative distribution.
Separately, Cointelegraph reported that a bankruptcy court judge ruled the FTX trust couldn’t pursue damages against Binance and its former CEO Changpeng Zhao, while Chief Judge Karen B. Owens allowed the trust to pursue its attempt to recover the $1.76 billion transfer.
Cointelegraph also said the trust’s clawback effort was tied to “Bankman-Fried’s pervasive and now well-known malfeasance,” keeping future distributions dependent on ongoing legal outcomes and remaining recovery efforts.
