Ein Raya attack and response

A 37-year-old Hamas operative, Kadri Samara, opened fire on the vehicle of Netanel Shakron at the Ein Raya spring, also known as Banaba spring, near the Binyamin community of Neve Tzuf in the Binyamin region of Samaria, and the shooting killed Shakron. A tracker from the Binyamin Brigade shot Samara and wounded him, and the tracker’s fire effectively saved Shakron’s 16-year-old son, who was beside him.

IDF forces raided the town of Bidu, northwest of Jerusalem, where Samara lived, and Palestinians said about 50 people were detained and held in one of the town’s homes after troops took control of the building. The sources said Samara drove to the area of the spring near Neve Tzuf, then opened fire, and an initial investigation found that Samara acted alone throughout the attack.

Detention, hospital raid, and manhunt

Israeli sources identified the slain man as Netanel Shakaron, 30, and IMEMC News said the Israeli army abducted a wounded Palestinian from a hospital, alleging that he carried out the attack. IMEMC News said Israeli forces invaded the area near Ein Wadi Raya, near Deir Nitham, northwest of Ramallah, launched extensive searches, and imposed a siege after the shooting near the illegal Neveh Tzuf colony west of Ramallah.

IMEMC News added that soldiers later invaded the Hclinic Specialized Hospital in Al-Bireh and abducted the wounded Palestinian, and the soldiers also confiscated a car that was reportedly used by the shooter. Ynetnews and ynetglobal both described how Samara was arrested at a clinic in Ramallah following a manhunt, and they said he fled there wounded after the tracker in an armored vehicle opened fire on him.
