IDF strikes Gaza sites

The Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) said they dismantled in a joint operation on Monday five Hamas weapon storage facilities and a Hamas launch site in several strikes across the Gaza Strip.

The IDF said the facilities stored rockets, weapons, explosive devices, grenades, ammunition and additional military equipment intended for use against IDF troops in the Gaza Strip, and said the storage facilities had been established inside mosques and alongside humanitarian infrastructure.

The IDF said it issued warnings to the civilian population before carrying out the strikes, with additional precautions including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.

The IDF said Security forces in the IDF’s Southern Command are deployed in the area in accordance with the Oct. 10, 2025, ceasefire framework and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat.

Israel National News echoed the IDF’s framing, saying the strikes were a “clear warning” that the IDF and Shin Bet “will not tolerate terrorist activity of any kind against Israeli civilians.”

Leiter attacks Hamas

Israeli Ambassador to the United States Yechiel Leiter lashed out at Hamas after the IDF’s announcement on the uncovering of dozens of Kalashnikov rifles hidden inside mosques in Gaza.

Leiter wrote on X, “Hamas is trying to go back to the world of Oct. 6, when their plans to massacre men, women and children went unnoticed,” referring to the day before Hamas launched its Oct. 7, 2023, invasion of southern Israel.

Leiter added, “Israel won’t be surprised again at Hamas barbarism,” as the IDF said it issued warnings and used precise munitions and aerial surveillance.

The Jerusalem Post also tied the operations to Hamas’ role in Gaza, quoting COGAT that “Hamas will stop at nothing to exploit humanitarian aid for its own needs,” after drugs were found in aid shipments.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the IDF and Shin Bet recently destroyed two Hamas weapons depots in northern Gaza stored inside two mosques in the Shati and Deir al-Balah areas, and said advance warning was given before the strikes.

Aid drugs and next steps

The Jerusalem Post said the Defense Ministry's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) reported that drugs were smuggled into the Gaza Strip inside food products intended as humanitarian aid, based on a report by the World Central Kitchen (WCK). COGAT said WCK found six bundles of hashish weighing approximately 600 grams in total concealed inside packages of canned peppers, along with an additional 160 grams of other illegal substances. The Jerusalem Post quoted COGAT saying the incident demonstrates once again that Hamas will stop at nothing to exploit humanitarian aid for its own needs, and said it strongly condemns the serious smuggling of drugs.

In the same reporting, the Jerusalem Post said the IDF and Shin Bet announced that the elite undercover Duvdevan force arrested Hamam Khazem in Jenin, who was “planning to carry out an attack inside Israel.” The Jerusalem Post added that Raad Khazem, Hamam's brother, carried out the 2022 shooting at Dizengoff Center, murdering three Israeli civilians and resulting in his own death, and said another terrorist was arrested in the West Bank village of Sanur on Sunday.
