Iran Accuses Israel and the United States of Undermining Ceasefire After Strikes
Key Takeaways
- Diplomacy is the horizon for ending the war.
- Strait of Hormuz features prominently in discussions and understandings.
- Iranian strikes signal a more assertive posture amid ongoing negotiations.
Ceasefire and strikes
CNN analysis cited in Masrawy says that since the ceasefire between the United States and Iran on April 8, Tehran has repeatedly accused Israel and the United States of undermining the truce through military actions.
“ALTHOUGH it will take time for US-Iran negotiations to produce a durable peace deal, regional states have begun positioning themselves to benefit from the new economic opportunities that are likely to emerge”
Masrawy also says that Israel, according to its prime minister, conducted nearly 3,500 raids in Lebanon, including in the capital Beirut, despite the ceasefire restrictions.

In response, Masrawy reports that Iran carried out retaliatory strikes against American and Gulf targets and warned that if diplomacy fails it is prepared to resume the war and broaden it beyond the Gulf, potentially threatening shipping routes extending from the Indian Ocean to the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
Masrawy adds that exchanges of fire between the United States and Iran renewed during late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning after a U.S. military helicopter was shot down earlier in the week.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran's lead negotiator in the talks, told CNN on Monday that "We have overturned the ceasefire equation that existed on paper while it was repeatedly violated on the ground."
Negotiators and warnings
Masrawy reports that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said Iran will not accept the situation "under any circumstances."
The same Masrawy article quotes U.S. diplomat Aaron David Miller telling CNN that "The Iranians have put Israel and the United States in a difficult position now."

Masrawy says Tasnim News Agency, close to the Revolutionary Guards, quoted an unnamed military source warning that "If Israelis and Americans think they can, through a policy of managed tension" they are making a grave mistake.
In the diplomatic arena, سیمای آزادی says Tehran is considering a short-term halt to shipments through the Strait of Hormuz as a way to prevent an immediate escalation of tensions and preserve the opportunity for dialogue.
سیمای آزادی also states that the Strait of Hormuz did not close completely and that ships continued to pass "in a restricted, high-risk, and tightly supervised manner" confirmed by ship-tracking data and a BBC report.
Economic pressure and talks
سیمای آزادی says the United States emphasized intensifying economic pressure and that the U.S. Treasury Secretary spoke of employing economic tools to the maximum extent.

The same سیمای آزادی article says Washington Post reported that the United States is planning to deploy thousands more military personnel to the Middle East to increase strategic pressure on Iran and strengthen deterrence.
سیمای آزادی further reports that State media announced Asim Munir, the Chief of the Pakistan Army, on Wednesday evening, 26 Farvardin, led a high-ranking political-security delegation into Tehran.
It adds that Regime Television, citing “informed sources” in Pakistan, claimed that the second round of talks is expected to be hosted in the coming days in Islamabad, after the first round held on Saturday in the Pakistani capital.
Dawn says that during President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent visit, both countries agreed to raise bilateral trade from about $3bn to $10bn by 2028, framing it as an economic opportunity tied to regional peace settlement.
