Iran’s heatwave offer
Iran suggested European nations lift sanctions to protect “your own people” during an unprecedented heatwave, offering to export “a wide range of air conditioners and cooling equipment to Europe.”

In a post on X carried by ANI, the Iranian Embassy in Turkiye said, “For the sake of protecting your own people, lift the sanctions on Iran.”
The same post added that “despite years of sanctions, Iran has successfully developed and manufactured its own air conditioners using indigenous technology.”
ANI linked the offer to extreme temperatures across Europe, saying transport crumbled as temperatures hit 40 degree C (104F) across Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland.
The Times of India similarly framed the message as a “friendly suggestion” to Europe to deal with the heatwave by exporting air conditioners if sanctions are lifted first.
Heat toll and conditions
The ANI report said hotter early-summer heatwaves triggered illness, deaths and the collapse of infrastructure across the continent, with France days averaging 29.8C (85.6F) spiking to 44C (111.2F) in one town.
It also cited a World Weather Attribution study, quoted by Al Jazeera, saying intense heat on this level is now “tens to hundreds of times more likely than it was in 2003.”
The Times of India reported that France recorded 2,025 excess deaths during the heatwave, and said the heatwave lasted from June 20 to June 28.
Times of India added that French health minister Stephanie Rist said there was a “particularly sharp increase in deaths among people aged over 45.”
In the same ANI package, the immediate trigger was described as a stalled high-pressure system, or a “heat dome,” which traps heat in one concentrated area for days or weeks.
Europe’s infrastructure debate
A separate Vietnam.vn report described how extreme heat reached Brussels, where the European Commission’s headquarters saw air conditioning temporarily cut to some floors while other areas stayed cool.

It said the incident sparked internal controversy over whether working conditions during heatwaves were “plus justes et plus sûres,” and argued the problem was not limited to one building or one air conditioner.
The article framed the broader question as whether Europe is prepared for “des phénomènes météorologiques extrêmes de plus en plus fréquents,” and said the debate was “loin d’être clos.”
