Retaliation Across the Gulf
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it carried out missile and drone strikes against US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman early Monday, calling the action retaliation for fresh US attacks on southern Iran.
“Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has targeted US military facilities in Bahrain, claimed it has destroyed radar systems in Oman and hit Jordan and Kuwait in its latest round of overnight retaliatory strikes against the United States”
The IRGC said it hit and set on fire several large missile silos and fuel storage tanks at the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan and struck the Shaikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, destroying a US command and control center, helicopter overhaul and maintenance centers and a Boeing P-8 Poseidon aircraft hangar.

In Bahrain, the IRGC said it also hit US army facilities and infrastructure at the Juffair base, while in Oman it said it targeted an FPS radar system and a vessel detection radar.
The Iranian army said its forces targeted a US army center in Kuwait in a drone attack early Monday, and it added that its air defense on Monday intercepted a LUCAS drone over Bandar Abbas.
The US Central Command said its forces completed a new wave of offensive strikes against Iran, hitting targets at multiple locations with precision weapons to degrade Iran’s ability to attack international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Competing Claims and Warnings
Iran’s foreign ministry condemned the US “aggressive” attacks in the past 24 hours and said the bombings are in “flagrant violation” of the UN Charter, while it denounced US “clear interference” in Iran’s enforcement of arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a phone interview with Fox News on Monday, US President Donald Trump said his country would “keep the strait” and “probably run it,” and he threatened further military strikes against Iran.
The IRGC spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said Tehran would not allow Washington to interfere in management of the strait and warned Gulf countries that any cooperation with the United States would be considered “an act of war.”
Al Jazeera’s recap said Jordan’s military intercepted and downed “four missiles that entered Jordanian airspace” and came from Iranian territory, while it also said the IRGC claimed it targeted the Prince Hassan Air Base with missiles and drones.
Al Jazeera reported that Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior said sirens had been sounded and warned people to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place.
What Comes Next
The dispute over the Strait of Hormuz remained central as Iran’s IRGC said the sole way to open the strait for passage by vessels is to end the “aggressive” US army interventions in the waterway and respect coastal countries’ sovereignty.
Al Jazeera said the number of vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz has fallen to its lowest level in five weeks, and it cited Kpler data showing six ships sailed through the strait on Sunday.
Al Jazeera also reported that six ships carried 2 million barrels of Iranian oil and 500,000 barrels of Kuwaiti petroleum products, while it said three empty tankers also entered the Gulf.
CNBC said oil prices jumped Monday morning as the latest cycle of attacks and counterattacks renewed fears of further disruption, with Brent crude futures with September delivery advancing 2.8% to trade at $78.14 per barrel.
CNBC said Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that “The era of one-sided deals is OVER,” linking his remarks to Article 5 of the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding about reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
