An Israeli airstrike near a bakery in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip killed two Palestinians, including a three-year-old child, according to Palestinian health officials.

The Israeli army said it targeted a Hamas fighter and succeeded in killing him, noting that Nasser was involved in attacks on Israeli forces and civilians.

Hamas did not immediately comment on the strike, while Gaza health authorities said around 1,300 Palestinians have been martyred since the ceasefire came into effect last October.

Ceasefire, accusations

The deaths came as the Gaza Strip continued to see Israeli strikes despite a United States-brokered “ceasefire” in place since October 2025, with Hamas accusing Israel of violating it.

Al Jazeera reported Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip killed at least five Palestinians in multiple strikes, including three members of the same family, with bodies transported to Nasser Medical Complex.

In Gaza City, Al Jazeera said a drone fired a missile at a group of civilians in the Sabra neighbourhood, killing Hassan al-Deiri and wounding others taken to al-Shifa Hospital.

Al Jazeera also described a third attack hitting a tent of displaced people in the Mashahra area east of Gaza City, killing one person and injuring several others.

Hospitals and hunger

As Israeli strikes continued, Al Jazeera said Gaza’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital officials reported that cancer medicines have completely run out across the besieged enclave after an Israeli strike damaged the facility’s water tanks, laboratory equipment, and storage areas in Deir el-Balah.

Al Jazeera also reported new food security data from the United Nations World Food Programme showing that nearly half of those surveyed in Gaza, or 46 percent, reported going to bed hungry at least once in the previous 30 days.

The same Al Jazeera report said the daily average number of trucks crossing into Gaza since last year’s ceasefire is 217, far below the 600 trucks per day agreed under the ceasefire agreement.

In parallel, Al Jazeera said nearly half of households reported completely running out of food at least once, while 21 percent of surveyed households were eating only one meal a day.
