Earlier on Sunday, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said army forces control key positions in the Beaufort (al-Shaqif) heights in southern Lebanon, and he said they are ready to launch a swift attack on Hezbollah if it violates the ceasefire.

During a field visit to the forces of the 36th Division, Zamir told reporters, "The Lebanese army must remove Hezbollah elements from the Beaufort heights, as we are ready to launch a swift attack on Hezbollah if it violates the ceasefire."

The same report said Zamir claimed the Beaufort area contains infrastructure and tunnels established by Hezbollah with Iranian support and funding, alleging Israeli forces control key positions above ground as well as underground facilities.

Evacuation orders and claims

In Tyre and its surroundings in southern Lebanon, Lebanese authorities said Israeli strikes on Tuesday evening killed at least 11 people, as residents fled after an evacuation call issued by the Israeli army.

AFP reported that for the first time the Christian quarter was included in an evacuation call, and Walid al-Tawil, a member of the municipal council, said the Christian quarter was "99 percent empty".

The Israeli army said it was targeting the pro-Iranian Hezbollah, and the report said Tehran demanded that any deal with Washington to end the war in the Middle East include an end to hostilities on the Lebanese front.

The same account said Hezbollah continues to refuse a conditional ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, and on Tuesday claimed new attacks against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, including at Ras al-Naqoura on the border.

The report also described an Israeli army spokesman, Avichay Adraee, broadcasting on X an urgent warning to residents of Tyre to evacuate their homes and move to the north of the Zahrani River, about forty kilometers from the border with Israel.

Displacement and wider stakes

A Disaster Risk Management Unit update cited figures for the Israeli war on Lebanon of 4,305 martyrs, 12,203 injuries, and 36,213 displaced to shelters.

The same update presented the totals as current, stating "4305 martyrs, 12203 injuries and 36213 displaced to shelters".

In parallel, the La Croix recap said a new Israeli strike in southern Lebanon killed six, with the Health Ministry saying the number of people killed in Israeli strikes during the day had reached at least 15.

La Croix also reported that the Israeli army announced the death in combat of one of its soldiers in southern Lebanon, the fourth since the ceasefire came into effect on April 17 with the pro-Iranian Hezbollah.

The La Presse report said that since the start, on March 2, of the new war in Lebanon between Hezbollah and Israel, Israeli strikes have killed 3,666 people, according to the latest toll from authorities on Tuesday.
