Olive harvest under attack
Israeli settlers, backed by Israeli occupation forces, attacked Palestinian homes and olive harvesters across the occupied West Bank on Saturday, with WAFA reporting incidents in Beita south of Nablus and in Al-Mughayyir northeast of Ramallah. In Beita, settlers assaulted Palestinians harvesting olives in the Jabal al-Arma area and opened fire with live ammunition, and WAFA said at least one Palestinian farmer was injured. In Al-Mughayyir, settlers targeted homes south of the village and seized a vehicle while Israeli occupation forces raided the outskirts of the area.
Israeli occupation forces also prevented Palestinians in Beita, south of Nablus, from accessing their lands in the Al-Dhahra area during the olive harvest season. In the Nablus governorate, Al Jazeera reported that settlers protected by the occupation army attacked farmers and olive harvesters in the areas of al-Zahra and Qmas in the town of Beita, south of Nablus.

Detentions and injuries
Israeli forces detained dozens of Palestinians during a raid on the village of Burqa, northwest of Nablus, and Palestinian media reported that several young men were subjected to mistreatment and interrogated in a public square. Al Jazeera reported that occupation forces fired tear gas at citizens and journalists in Oysrin, and it said its camera captured settlers breaking a Palestinian vehicle in Oysrin. Al Jazeera said that settlers’ assaults on the two towns coincided with reinforcements of the military brought by the occupation to the area, and it reported that the Israeli army prevented farmers from reaching their lands.
In Oysrin, Al Jazeera reported that several olive harvesters were injured after the settlers’ assault. WAFA also reported that Israeli occupation forces deployed stun grenades and tear gas against Palestinian farmers and foreign solidarity activists in the Nablus area.

Scale and what is at risk
The Group for the Defense of the Wall and Settlement reported that during September the occupation forces and settlers committed a total of 2051 attacks against Palestinian citizens and their property in the West Bank. The same data said the violations were distributed as 1404 attacks carried out by the occupation forces and 647 attacks carried out by settler gangs. Al Jazeera reported that local authorities warned of the worsening plight of farmers this year compared to previous years, as ongoing attacks threaten the loss of large harvest quantities and the deprivation of residents from safe access to their lands.
Amir Daoud, documentation official at the Separation Wall and Settlements Resistance Commission, said Israel targets derailing the olive harvest season, and he described the olive tree as having symbolic and economic value connected to the land. Daoud told Anadolu that preventing farmers from reaching olive groves deprives them of a basic living and economic resource and weakens residents’ ability to stay on their lands and develop their livelihoods.
