Strikes Hit Gaza Families

Israeli drone strikes killed at least five Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Friday, including three members of the same family from the Abdeen family, Al Jazeera reported, with the bodies transported to Nasser Medical Complex in the governorate.

In Gaza City, Al Jazeera reported that a drone fired a missile at a group of civilians in the Sabra neighbourhood, killing Palestinian man Hassan al-Deiri and sending his body and wounded people to al-Shifa Hospital.

Al Jazeera also reported a third attack hit a tent of displaced people in the Mashahra area east of Gaza City, killing one person and injuring several others.

Al Jazeera said the latest wave of attacks came despite a United States-brokered “ceasefire” in place since October 2025, as Gaza continued to face severe food insecurity.

Hospitals Run Out

Al Jazeera reported that Gaza’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital said cancer medicines have completely run out across the besieged enclave after an Israeli strike damaged the facility’s water tanks, laboratory equipment, and storage areas in Deir el-Balah.

The same Al Jazeera report said the strike left cancer medicines unavailable as officials described the hospital’s situation in the Gaza Strip.

Separately, Al Jazeera said new data released on Thursday from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) found that nearly half of those surveyed in Gaza, or 46 percent, reported going to bed hungry at least once in the previous 30 days.

Al Jazeera reported that the daily average number of trucks crossing into Gaza since last year’s ceasefire is 217, far below the 600 trucks per day agreed under the ceasefire agreement.

Al Jazeera also said about 38 percent had reduced the number of meals they ate each day, while 17 percent restricted adults’ food intake daily to prioritise children.

Casualty Totals and Health

Al Jazeera reported that Israeli strikes killed at least five Palestinians in multiple strikes across the Gaza Strip on Friday, while Al Jazeera also described the broader toll of attacks continuing through the ceasefire period.

Al Jazeera said the Israeli military launched a strike in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin on Friday, killing three Palestinians, and identified one of them as Qais Bitawi, with the army claiming, without evidence, that he was a Hamas operative.

Al Jazeera further reported that the Israeli military claimed, without evidence, that it killed two Palestinian commanders—one with Hamas and one with Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ)—in separate attacks on Gaza City on Thursday.

Al Jazeera said the Gaza Strip continues to face severe food insecurity, with WFP data showing 21 percent of surveyed households were eating only one meal a day in the August food security analysis.

Al Jazeera also reported that three-quarters of surveyed households reported difficulties accessing markets, with cash shortages and high food prices among the main barriers.
