Al Jazeera also reported that two people were injured when an Israeli drone struck a pick-up truck unloading rubbish on the outskirts of the towns of Choukine and Kfar Dajjal in the Nabatieh district, and that Israeli demolition operations shook the border town of Khiam overnight.

In the same account, NNA said drones targeted the town of al-Fawqa and no casualties were reported there, while the attacks came after Amnesty International called for war crimes investigations into three earlier Israeli strikes in March that killed 24 civilians, including 12 children.

Al Jazeera added that Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health said on Wednesday the death toll from Israel’s attacks had risen to 4,321 with 12,204 others injured since March 2.

Amnesty presses for justice

Amnesty International said three Israeli air strikes in southern Lebanon in March 2026 that killed 24 civilians, including 12 children, wiping out families, must be investigated as war crimes.

In its account, Amnesty International said it investigated attacks that destroyed civilian homes in al-Thakana neighbourhood in Tyre district, Irkay village in Saida district, and al-Rahbat neighbourhood in Nabatieh district on 6, 12, and 13 March, respectively, and that those killed included 12 children ranging in ages from five to 16.

Amnesty’s Kristine Beckerle said, “Within the space of just a week – the Israeli military obliterated entire families, including a dozen children, in Lebanon, demonstrating a callous disregard for civilian lives.”

Beckerle also warned that “There are mounting fears that the latest, US-brokered Israel-Lebanon agreement could become yet another barrier to justice,” and Amnesty urged Lebanon to grant the International Criminal Court jurisdiction over crimes committed on its territory.

Amnesty International further stated that between 2 March and 29 June, 4,257 people were killed in Lebanon, including more than 250 children according to the Lebanese government.

Ceasefire strain and diplomacy

While the US-brokered framework deal was discussed in Washington, the BBC reported that Lebanese Army Commander Rodolph Haykal headed to Pakistan on Saturday at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, General Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as Islamabad’s mediation efforts between Iran and the United States continued.

The BBC said Lebanese President Jozef Aoun condemned what he described as a “flagrant violation of sovereignty” after three soldiers were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted their armored vehicle in southern Lebanon despite Lebanon and Israel agreeing to implement a conditional ceasefire.

The BBC also reported that Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem rejected the agreement, describing talks between Lebanon and Israel as “absurd,” and that the Lebanese government opposes Hezbollah but is seeking to end fighting on its territory.

In a separate report, CNN Arabic said the Lebanese army announced the killing of soldiers, including an officer, in an Israeli strike in south Lebanon, and that the army said in a statement posted on the X platform that servicemen were “martyred in a brutal Israeli raid” that targeted a military vehicle on the Khardali-Nabatieh road.

CNN Arabic added that the Nabatieh area had witnessed several Israeli strikes in recent days despite a renewed ceasefire reached with American mediation between the governments of Israel and Lebanon, and it said the Israeli army issued another evacuation order for residents of several villages and towns in southern Lebanon citing Hezbollah’s violation of the ceasefire.
