Jenin raid kills Abu Raad
Israeli forces killed Palestinian Fathi Khazem, known as Abu Raad, during a raid on his home in the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank at dawn on Friday, according to Al Jazeera sources.

The account said the situation escalated into a hand-to-hand clash for several moments before the occupation soldiers fired seven straight bullets at his body, martyring him, and then seized his body and transported it via a military vehicle to an unknown destination.

Family history and fallout
The sources tied Khazem’s killing to a longer sequence of attacks and raids involving his sons, including that his eldest son Raad carried out a shooting attack on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv on April 7, 2022, which killed three Israelis and injured at least 16 others, before Raad was killed by Israeli forces after hours of pursuit.

Al Jazeera Net said Khazem’s name rose to prominence since late April 2022, and it described him as a retired officer in the Palestinian National Security Forces with the rank of colonel who served as deputy commander of the Nablus region.
An Al-Taʿlīl al-ʿArabī account said the Israeli occupation executed Khazem inside his home in the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank during its raid, and it added that the Palestinian News Agency WAFA said Israeli forces prevented an ambulance from reaching him, leaving him to bleed to death before seizing his body.
Anadolu Ajansi reported that Palestinian political circles and institutions mourned Khazem as a "deliberate crime and a cold-blooded assassination," and it said the obituary appeared in statements by Rami Abutoh and Palestinian factions including Fatah and Hamas.
The Anadolu Ajansi summary also quoted Fatah describing Abu Al-Raad as a steadfast, free, noble, and loyal fighter for Palestine who "did not bow to the arrogance of the occupier," while Hamas said the crime of occupation and its targeting of Palestinians with assassinations and arrests would not stop the course of the resistance.
