Raids in Quneitra and Daraa

Israeli forces penetrated multiple areas in the Quneitra and Daraa countrysides in southern Syria, with local sources in Quneitra saying a patrol raided the town of Jabata al-Khashab, searched two residential houses, and arrested a young man from the town.

The same account said three Israeli tanks penetrated the Al-Duraiyat area in the southern countryside of the province for reconnaissance before withdrawing behind the border strip, while five Israeli military vehicles set up a checkpoint at the Saida Junction on the Golan.

In Daraa, local sources reported that at night an Israeli force of 25 personnel advanced toward the village of Mariyah from the Jazira base and deployed inside the village’s residential neighborhoods.

SANA also described an Israeli occupation force penetrating several areas in the southern outskirts of Quneitra, saying the force consisted of seven military vehicles that penetrated the village of Saida al-Hanout and traveled along the road from al-Maqraz to the al-Maqraz dam before withdrawing toward the Abu Ghaithar hill.

The reporting said the movements coincided with intensive flights of unmanned reconnaissance aircraft over the region, creating a climate of anxiety among civilians.

Checkpoints, arrests, and interrogation

Al-Jazeera Net said an Israeli occupation force penetrated the Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Daraa, while another Israeli force established a temporary checkpoint on the outskirts of the village of Saida al-Jolan in the southern countryside of Quneitra.

It added that a reporter for Syria Now said an Israeli force consisting of two troop carriers penetrated into the Jamla Company (Saraya al-Wadi) in the Yarmouk Basin coming from the Tel Abu al-Ghithar gate.

In parallel, Al-Jazeera Net said SANA reported that an Israeli force consisting of three military vehicles penetrated Saida al-Jolan, then headed toward the Hanout area where it detained two individuals and conducted an interrogation with them.

Al-Jazeera Net also linked the infiltrations to prior escalation, saying days earlier an Israeli attack with artillery shells on agricultural areas between Birqa and Qudna in the southern countryside of Quneitra caused material damage with no injuries reported.

The same Al-Jazeera Net piece said Syria continues to condemn the Israeli occupation’s attacks on its lands and regards them as a violation of the disengagement of forces agreement that Israel announced it had collapsed.

Disengagement dispute and escalation

SANA framed the incursions as violations of the disengagement agreement signed in 1974, saying Israel continues its aggressive policies and violations through incursions into the outskirts of Quneitra and Daraa and aggressions against civilians.

It stated that Syria continues to demand the implementation of United Nations resolutions and to end the Israeli occupation of Syrian territories.

Al-Jazeera Net added that the southern regions of Syria have witnessed an escalation in Israeli operations in recent months, including ground incursions, arrests, and the establishment of temporary checkpoints within some border areas.

It said Israel announced after the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024 that it does not consider the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement to be in effect, before expanding its military movements inside the demilitarized zone along the border with Syria.

Al-Jazeera Net also said the disengagement of forces agreement was described as collapsed by Israel and that it led to the occupation of the demilitarized zone after the fall of the Assad regime.
