Israeli strikes hit areas of southern and central Gaza, destroying homes in Khan Younis and sending thick smoke over Bureij camp, according to Al Jazeera. Gaza’s Health Ministry said Israeli attacks have killed at least 1,352 Palestinians and injured 4,511 since the ‘ceasefire’ began, as the same Al Jazeera report described the destruction and displacement. In Gaza City’s al-Shati refugee camp, an Israeli strike devastated a home and heavily damaged surrounding homes, after an earlier Israeli warning for people to evacuate a residential building, a health centre and a school, Al Jazeera reported.
In a separate Al-Jazeera report, Israeli attacks targeted residential buildings and a civilian gathering and a motorcycle in the central and northern Gaza Strip, while gunfire was aimed at internally displaced people in the city of Khan Younis in the south of the strip. Al Jazeera also said the toll of Palestinian casualties since the ceasefire on October 11 has risen to 1,358 martyrs and 4,541 injuries, while 831 bodies have been recovered, according to the Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip.
Voices, denials, and claims
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem denied a report by Israel’s Channel 14 alleging that the movement planned to abduct Israeli soldiers in Gaza, calling the allegation fabricated incitement intended to justify further Israeli crimes and violations. Qassem said Hamas remained committed to the ceasefire agreement and called on mediators and the Peace Council to act against continuing Israeli violations, which he said threatened the agreement and risked renewed escalation, according to IMEMC News. In Gaza City’s al-Shati refugee camp, residents said an Israeli strike came after the Israeli military warned them to evacuate the area near the end of Hamid Street, and The Telegraph reported there were no immediate reports of casualties.
The Telegraph also described footage showing flames and smoke pouring from a multi-storey block of flats in the densely populated Al-Shati camp on the Mediterranean coast in northern Gaza City. Al Jazeera reported that Nasrin Begum, a sewing machine operator who escaped by jumping from a second-floor window, described workers pounding on locked metal doors as smoke filled the stairwells, but the Al Jazeera Gaza coverage in these sources focused on strikes and casualty updates rather than that specific factory narrative.
