Israeli Strikes Kill Ghassan Nader Family in Bourj Qalaouiyé, South Lebanon

Israeli strikes hammered the Bint Jbeil district in southern Lebanon since 8 p.m., with Kafra, Yater, Beit Yahoun, and Froun named among the areas hit, according to L'Orient-Le Jour’s correspondent in the South, Mountasser Abdallah.

L'Orient-Le Jour reported that three members of the same family—Ghassan Nader, his wife Manal Jaafar, and their son Ali Ghassan Nader—were killed in an Israeli strike that hit their home in Bourj Qalaouiyé (Bint Jbeil district).

The Israeli army also announced the death of one of its soldiers in a drone attack carried out by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, saying Sergeant Idan Fooks, 19, from Petah Tikva, was killed on Sunday.

L'Orient-Le Jour said the Israel Defense Forces reported that the soldier was killed and six other soldiers were wounded in the attack, including one officer and three soldiers seriously, another moderately, and one lightly.

France Palestine Solidarité described Palestinian refugees in Lebanon facing new displacement after Israeli forces launched violent attacks near their home on March 2, with Manal saying, “There were bombings all around us.”

L'Orient-Le Jour said the Israeli army announced the death of Sergeant Idan Fooks, 19, from Petah Tikva, and added that Hezbollah carried out the drone strike in southern Lebanon.

In the same account, L'Orient-Le Jour reported that “The Israeli army strikes have killed 2,509 and wounded 7,755 in Lebanon since the start of the war with Hezbollah,” while also noting that a ceasefire came into effect on April 16, according to a Health Ministry tally.

France Palestine Solidarité reported that Israel intensified its war against Lebanon on March 2 after Hezbollah attacked Israel for the first time in more than a year, and it said a ceasefire had been in effect since November 27, 2024.

France Palestine Solidarité also quoted Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, warning that those displaced by the fighting “will not return home” until the north of Israel is secure.

L'Orient-Le Jour further reported that the municipality of Jdeidet Marjeyoun called for the immediate evacuation of displaced people after an Israeli warning, stating that the municipality urged “otherwise the entire locality should be evacuated.”

France Palestine Solidarité said Israel ordered the mass evacuation of more than 14% of the territory, notably the south of Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburb, the area known as Dahieh.

The same report said Israeli airstrikes and evacuation orders have displaced more than 800,000 people in Lebanon since March 2, with displaced families hosted with relatives, in hotels, or renting apartments.

France Palestine Solidarité described Manal Matar’s family moving from Rashidieh refugee camp near Tyre to Beddawi refugee camp in Tripoli after attacks near their home in the early hours of March 2.

L'Orient-Le Jour reported that the municipality of Jdeidet Marjeyoun urged displaced people and those not normally residing in the area to leave, and it said the municipality warned that provisions of a previous statement dated March 12, 2026 remained in force.

Against that backdrop, L'Orient-Le Jour said the Israeli army stated on X that it had struck launch cells and weapons depots of Hezbollah, while France Palestine Solidarité framed the displacement as a generational trauma tied to forced displacement imposed by Israel.
