Drone, shelling, blast

Beirut, Lebanon, saw a new escalation on Friday as an Israeli drone flew at low altitude over the southern suburb of Beirut, while shelling hit areas in the south and an explosion was carried out by occupation forces in the town of al-Manasouri, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.

The agency said the towns of Houlwa and Wadi al-Salouqi were subjected to artillery shelling by Israel, alongside gunfire from light weapons, without immediate information on injuries or damage.

In al-Manasouri, the agency reported that occupation forces carried out during the early hours of the morning a blast described as massive, with the exact nature of the targeted site and the extent of losses not being immediately clear.

The escalation was described as continuing despite a diplomatic path between Beirut and Tel Aviv under American sponsorship, including discussions of a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territories, with southern regions among the most affected by bombing and air raids.

Aarabi21 framed the developments as part of ongoing Israeli military operations against villages and towns in southern Lebanon, with destruction of civil facilities and properties.

Strikes kill in Nabatieh

Al Jazeera reported that an Israeli strike killed a newlywed woman in the town of Arab Salim in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh district, and that several other people were injured.

The report said Israel stated that the attacks came after Hezbollah launched two drones at Israeli troops.

In parallel, Al-Bawāba al-Hadaf al-akhbārīya said Israeli occupation warplanes bombed on Wednesday morning two targets: the Ali al-Taher heights and the outskirts of the town of Kfarman in Nabatieh Governorate.

That same source said Lebanese President Michel Aoun stressed the need to stop Israeli attacks, calling for an end to blowing up and destroying homes and property and bulldozing them and targeting civilians.

Al-Bawāba al-Hadaf al-akhbārīya also tied the escalation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s August 9 statement that his army is conducting a highly important operation in Lebanon.

Casualties, displacement, talks

Al-Bawāba al-Hadaf al-akhbārīya said that since March 2, the escalation has resulted in the martyrdom of 4,346 people, 12,301 others injured, and the displacement of more than one million people, according to Lebanese authorities.

The same source said Lebanon and Israel signed, under American sponsorship, on June 26, 2026, an “Framework Format” agreement envisioning a gradual Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories in exchange for the Lebanese army’s deployment there and the disarmament of armed groups, in reference to Hezbollah.

It added that despite the agreement and ongoing negotiations, Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue almost daily.

Al-Jazeera Net described a dense wave of Israeli artillery shelling and air raids at dawn on Saturday, accompanied by phosphorus shells and explosions targeting residential neighborhoods and forested areas in southern Lebanon.

Al-Jazeera Net said the Lebanese official News Agency (NNA) reported that not a single house remained intact in Bayt al-Siyad as a result of the ongoing explosions and shelling there.
