Camp David Iran, Yemen
Vice President J.D. Vance chaired a closed, unannounced meeting at Camp David on Friday as senior national security officials discussed the war with Iran and the Saudi-Houthi conflict in Yemen.
“Either Iran will sign the agreement, or it will not exist anymore.”
Axios reported that the meeting lasted for hours and included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, special envoy Steve Witkoff, CIA chief John Ratcliffe, and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine.
Trump said, "If I told you, you would have a big story. But you will see. Things are going very, very well. Iran is not doing well."
Trump also said on Thursday, "Either Iran will sign the agreement, or it will not exist anymore."
American officials told Axios that the administration was weighing a return to large-scale combat operations against Iran as talks stalled.
Saudi pressure, US hesitation
Saudi Arabia urged Washington to join airstrikes on the Houthis, and Axios reported that Trump remained hesitant to engage militarily in the Saudi campaign.
Euronews said the meeting addressed or debated issues in depth while the White House declined to comment on the unannounced gathering.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States was preparing to send a third aircraft carrier strike group and additional Marine ships to the Middle East, adding up to 10,000 troops.
Euronews said the forces were expected to arrive in the coming weeks and that the deployment would raise the U.S. naval presence to an unusually high level, with more than 20,000 sailors and Marine personnel and hundreds of aircraft.
Trump told reporters, "If I told you, you would have a big story. But you will see. Things are going very, very well. Iran is not doing well."
Options, sanctions, troop moves
The Trump administration expanded sanctions Thursday to include companies and entities operating in the automotive, railway, heavy equipment, and mining sectors, as well as suppliers and financial networks outside Iran. Euronews said the sanctions were part of an anti-economy campaign launched in August to reduce Tehran's revenues and dry up financial channels it uses to circumvent sanctions. Anadolu Ajansı said the Pentagon was preparing to send a third aircraft carrier strike group and additional Marine ships, with forces expected to arrive by the end of November.
“The WSJ, citing US officials, said the forces are expected to arrive by the end of November.”
Euronews said the U.S. military movement in the region coincided with the Camp David meeting and that negotiations with Iran had reached a dead end. Euronews reported that Trump said at a rally in Alabama on Friday evening that the war with Iran will end soon, either through reaching an agreement or via military action, adding, "It will end very soon, most likely right after the elections, but once it ends, oil prices will collapse."
