Jill Biden Says Doctors Checked Joe Biden After June 2024 Debate Fears

Former first lady Jill Biden said she was "frightened" after President Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance in June 2024 and revealed that his campaign team was so concerned that doctors examined him after he came off stage.

In an interview with CBS News, Jill Biden described watching the debate and thinking, “Oh my God, he’s having a stroke,” as she recounted the moment in her upcoming memoir, View from the East Wing.

NPR reported that Jill Biden told All Things Considered host Scott Detrow that after the debate, “we met up in the car, and then the doctors, you know, checked him out and said, 'Oh, he's fine.'”

NPR also said Jill Biden called the cause of the performance “inexplicable” and told Detrow, “I mean, I don't know what happened.”

A BBC analysis framed U.S. presidential checkups as both health reporting and political messaging, noting that “All modern U.S. presidents have walked the short distance from the White House to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.”

The same El Debate account said Trump will turn 80 on June 14 and that the White House typically publishes a summary of physical exams within hours or days, while “the details are entirely at its discretion.”

In France’s TF1 Info, Democratic lawmakers and some conservative figures raised concerns about Donald Trump’s mental health and discussed invoking the 25th Amendment, with the article saying “more than 70 Democratic lawmakers are calling to invoke the 25th Amendment.”
