Alvarez vs Atlético
Julián Álvarez’s transfer standoff with Atlético Madrid intensified after the Argentina forward was left out of the handshake line during Atlético’s 2-2 draw with Villarreal at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday, with Álvarez “walk[ing] alone” across the pitch as supporters whistled and shouted.

Arsenal’s opening
As the summer transfer window entered its final days, the London Evening Standard said Alvarez was “softening his stance on returning to England,” with “the door left ajar” to Arsenal after the relationship between Alvarez and Atletico “is starting to grow unsavoury.”
