King Charles Strips Prince Andrew of All Royal Titles and Evicts Him Over Epstein Scandal

Prince Andrew's Title Removal

King Charles III has stripped Prince Andrew of all remaining royal titles and ordered him to leave his Windsor home, Royal Lodge. Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. The decision was triggered by pressure over Andrew’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and renewed allegations against him.

This action is described by various outlets as rare and highly unusual within the modern monarchy. Several mainstream and international sources emphasize the severity and formality of the move, noting that titles, styles (including His Royal Highness), and honours are being removed.

Andrew will relocate to private accommodation following this decision. The palace expressed sympathy for abuse victims while also noting that Andrew denies the allegations.

Changes to Royal Titles

How the palace is handling the situation and the extent of the changes vary according to different reports. Several sources mention the use of Royal Warrants and a non-parliamentary process to speed up the procedure. Titles such as the Dukedom of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh, and honors like the Garter are being removed.

Most reports also state that Andrew will lose the style His Royal Highness and the title “Prince.” Other accounts suggest that parliamentary approval might be required for these changes. Most sources agree that Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will keep their titles.

Andrew's Residence and Relocation

A major flashpoint is Andrew’s residence at Royal Lodge. Several outlets say he was served notice to vacate and will move to smaller, privately funded accommodation on the King’s Sandringham estate. Reporting diverges on the lease, rent, and whether he had a legal right to stay.

Some stress that his ex‑wife Sarah Ferguson must leave as well. One report uniquely adds she loses her Duchess title. Others mention private financial support for Andrew’s relocation.

Jeffrey Epstein Scandal Overview

The action follows years of scandal tied to Jeffrey Epstein and abuse allegations from Virginia Giuffre. Several outlets highlight that Andrew denies the claims yet settled a civil lawsuit in 2022 without admitting wrongdoing. Many also report Giuffre’s posthumous memoir and that she died by suicide earlier this year.

Coverage ranges from describing a broad “sex trafficking scandal” to noting specific allegations of sexual abuse when Giuffre was 17. All of these allegations have been publicly disputed by Andrew.

Media and Political Reactions

Reaction and fallout span politics, media, and royal-watch coverage. Mainstream outlets note the palace’s sympathy for abuse victims, the retention of Beatrice and Eugenie’s titles, and continued scrutiny.

Other sources highlight protests, U.S. calls for congressional testimony, and even package the news alongside unrelated royal features. Across sources, the move is presented as decisive and necessary amid mounting public pressure.
