Deir Mimas standoff
Israeli forces advanced toward the outskirts of Deir Mimas near a newly established point set up by the Lebanese Army, according to an Al-Manar reporter in southern Lebanon.
“Israeli enemy force advanced towards the outskirts of Deir Mimas”
Al-Talfaziyoun Al-`Arabi said the Israeli occupation army set fire to a government hospital in Mays al-Jabal in the El-Marjeyoun district of the Nabatieh Governorate on Friday.

An Anadolu Ajansı report said the Lebanese army stated that an Israeli force approached one of its newly established posts in Deir Mimas and threw stun grenades in its vicinity, followed by the army reinforcing the post and an “eruption of readiness” between the two sides.
The Lebanese army said the post had been set up on September 10 in coordination with the international “Lebanese Military Coordination Group” to accompany residents while inspecting their farmlands, and that after communications the Israeli force left the area and soldiers returned to their main base in the town.
Quotes and competing frames
Deputy Ali Ammar, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc and a member of the Defense Committee, condemned the Israeli enemy’s attack on the Lebanese Army in Deir Mimas, saying it involved “hurling sonic bombs near its positions and outposts.”
Ammar also said the incident was “a blatant and loud aggression against Lebanon’s sovereignty and the dignity of its national institutions,” and he framed it as proof that “the Israeli enemy does not want a strong army that performs its national duty.”

An Anadolu Ajansı account described the Lebanese army’s position as a temporary observation post established on September 10 at the outskirts of Deir Mimas, with the Israeli force approaching on Friday and throwing stun grenades near the site.
An Arab News report, citing an AFP photographer and other media, described the same Deir Mimas episode as Israeli tanks advancing along a road toward the settlement and launching “six stun grenades in the surrounding area,” while the Lebanese army withdrew by about 100 metres but remained facing the tanks.
What’s at stake next
The Lebanese Army said that on September 18 an Israeli force approached a newly established observation point on the outskirts of Deir Mimas town inside what it described as the “security zone,” and fired sound grenades around the spot, triggering a state of alert on both sides.

After communications through the Military Coordination Group (MCG4L), the Lebanese Army said the Israeli force left the area and army personnel returned to their primary center in the town, while monitoring developments continued in coordination with the group.
An Al-Talfaziyoun Al-`Arabi report tied the Deir Mimmas confrontation to the June 26 framework agreement signed in Washington under American sponsorship, which it said calls for an Israeli gradual withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the Lebanese army’s deployment in areas from which Israeli forces withdraw.
Libnanews described the political stakes around the Lebanese Army as President Joseph Aoun’s movement to Paris and an international meeting devoted to supporting the Lebanese army, where Emmanuel Macron stressed “the gradual withdrawal of Israel from the occupied territories” alongside Lebanese institutions taking charge on the ground.
