Abbas meets UN in Amman
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met UN Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy in Amman to discuss the latest political and on-the-ground developments in the Palestinian territories, including ways to strengthen coordination between the State of Palestine and the League of Arab States.

The talks focused on mobilizing Arab and international support for the Palestinian cause and addressing challenges targeting Palestinian national rights, particularly "ending the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip" and facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid.
Abbas and Fahmy also discussed beginning the recovery and reconstruction phase and securing an Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, while preparing for upcoming Arab engagements.
The QNA account said the discussions aimed at strengthening coordination and cooperation between the State of Palestine and the League of Arab States as part of efforts to confront challenges facing Palestinian national rights.
In a separate report, WAFA said Abbas received Nabil Fahmy at his residence in Amman and reviewed the latest political and field developments in the Palestinian territories, including ending the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the entry of aid.
Arab League coordination and aid
In Amman, Abbas also met the Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy to discuss preparations for upcoming Arab commitments and ways to enhance coordination and cooperation between the State of Palestine and the Arab League.
WAFA reported that the two sides discussed "beginning the recovery and reconstruction phase" and "securing the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip" alongside halting colonial expansion and colonists' terrorism.
SadaNews similarly said Abbas and Fahmy reviewed political and field developments and discussed ending the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, facilitating aid deliveries, and launching recovery and reconstruction efforts.
Egypt Today reported that Fahmy met Abbas in Amman and affirmed the Arab League's unwavering support for the State of Palestine while strongly rejecting Israeli actions aimed at undermining the two-state solution.
In the same Egypt Today account, Fahmy warned that the Israeli occupation is actively working to dismantle any prospect of a two-state solution by intensified settlement expansion, forced displacement, and the blockade of Palestinian cities.
Financial safety net and next steps
Beyond Gaza-focused priorities, the meeting accounts tied the next phase to financial and political measures, including the release of Palestinian funds held by Israel and the activation of an Arab financial safety net.

Egypt Today reported that Fahmy stressed the urgent need to support the Palestinian Authority’s budget to help alleviate the financial crisis caused by Israel's withholding of tax revenues.
In the Yaffa News Network account, Abbas and the Arab League Secretary-General also discussed halting settlement expansion, settler violence, and the release of Palestinian tax revenues withheld by Israel.
