Pezeshkian backs unity

President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated his call for preserving national unity and cohesion during a press conference at the Interior Ministry in Tehran on Saturday, held to mark National Journalist Day. Pezeshkian said journalists and media personnel can play a vital role in creating an atmosphere conducive to social harmony, and he emphasized that journalists can render futile the enemy's plots to sow division and discord within Iranian society. He urged media professionals to avoid covering contentious issues or disseminating incorrect and conflicting information through their platforms, and he said journalists should help prevent confrontation over ambiguous matters.

“America is colonialist, America is criminal, and the Islamic Republic must remain; there is no doubt about this.”

Pezeshkian also addressed the economic problems resulting from the US-Israeli imposed war on Iran, and he said the issue of people's livelihoods remains one of the most important concerns of his administration. He added that American and Zionist enemies had speculated they would overthrow Iran through a military offensive, but the Iranian Armed Forces and the “exceptional presence of the people in the streets” prevented them from carrying out their intentions.

Friday imams echo warnings

In Karaj, Tasnim News Agency reported that Friday prayer imams in cities and counties of Alborz Province said the most important asset for navigating sensitive conditions is preserving national unity and cohesion. The Tasnim report said the Friday speakers emphasized vigilance against the enemy’s hybrid warfare and continuing resistance against external pressures, and they described Washington’s repeated retreats from military threats as a sign of the failure of its pressure policy and a loss of credibility of its threats. Tasnim also quoted Amam Jomheh Fourbagh Mehdi Darbani saying, “The Prophet Muhammad said that I asked God for three things for my community,” and he added that God granted the first two requests but did not accept the third about disputes and differences prevailing among the nation.

In Gorgan, a Reuters correspondent’s report carried by خبرگزاری حوزه said Hojjatol-Islam Borqarā Imam Jomʿa temporarily presiding over Friday prayers stressed that maintaining unity of society is the top priority and that discord weakens power and creates opportunities for enemies to infiltrate and dominate. The same report said Ali (AS) attributed enemy dominance not to their superiority in truth, but to their unity and obedience to their leaders, while dispersion and disobedience to the rightful Imam were identified as the main cause of retreat of the camp of truth.

Narratives, diplomacy, and risk

Mehr News Agency said Pezeshkian told the press conference that the United States, the Zionist regime and their analysts understand a country can no longer be forced into submission through war and missiles alone, and that internal divisions, discord and conflict could be used instead. Mehr News Agency also reported that Pezeshkian said dialogue and diplomacy compelled the US to enter into an understanding with Iran, and he stressed that national unity and resistance remain essential to safeguarding the country’s security and defense capabilities. The IRNA English report said Pezeshkian emphasized that journalists, through honest reporting, can render futile the enemy's plots to sow division and discord within Iranian society, and he urged avoiding incorrect and conflicting information.

In the same IRNA account, Pezeshkian said American and Zionist enemies had speculated they would overthrow Iran through a military offensive, but he said the Iranian Armed Forces and the “exceptional presence of the people in the streets” prevented them from carrying out their evil intentions. Mehr News Agency further said Pezeshkian stressed the need to safeguard achievements made through diplomacy, referring to a violation concerning the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s subsequent response under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding and guidelines jointly drawn up by the Islamic Republic and Oman.
