Iran mourns Venezuela quake
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sent a message of condolence to Delcy Rodríguez, the interim president of Venezuela, after a powerful earthquake struck parts of Venezuela and resulted in the loss of lives, injuries to a large number of citizens, and damage to affected regions. Pezeshkian declared the Islamic Republic of Iran's readiness to dispatch relief, medical, and humanitarian aid to alleviate suffering and to assist in rescue operations, and he offered “my deepest condolences to the bereaved families of this unfortunate disaster.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi also expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the Venezuelan government and people, wishing “a swift and full recovery for the injured.” The messages were published in the context of a reported earthquake that left numerous citizens dead and injured, with WANA saying Pezeshkian declared Iran’s full readiness to deploy humanitarian, medical, and rescue assistance to aid recovery efforts.

On the “X” platform, Araghchi told Venezuela’s government and people that “We are deeply saddened by the earthquake that struck Venezuela,” extending condolences “particularly to the families of the victims.” WAFA reported that President Mahmoud Abbas conveyed condolences to Delcy Rodríguez during a phone call, saying the earthquakes that struck Caracas “have killed at least 164 people and injured almost 1,000 others.”
WAFA added that Abbas affirmed the solidarity of the State of Palestine and its people with Venezuela, and he expressed wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured and the safety of those missing. WANA similarly quoted Araghchi reinforcing Tehran’s support, stating: “I.R.Iran stands in solidarity with Venezuelans and is ready to offer full assistance.”

Report.az said an Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement followed “two powerful earthquakes” in Venezuela and cited a magnitude 7.1 earthquake in northern Venezuela overnight on Thursday, with USGS later reporting two seismic events measuring magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, occurring just 40 seconds apart. Report.az also reported that Venezuelan authorities declared a state of emergency and that “at least 32 people were killed and around 700 others were injured,” while the WAFA account put the toll at “at least 164 people” and “almost 1,000 others” injured.
