Pezeshkian vows resistance
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian vowed that Iran will “resist” any pressure or threat against its critical infrastructure after US President Donald Trump threatened continued military strikes against Iranian targets.

Pezeshkian said threats to target transportation, electricity, and water networks are “a sign of desperation.”
In a post on X, Pezeshkian described critical infrastructure as “the lifeblood of the nation” and condemned threats to target key civilian sectors.
Trump told reporters “We’re going to be attacking them, attacking them very hard … They shot down a very, very incredible machine,” after the military carried out attacks overnight in retaliation for the downing of an American Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz.
The US military has not confirmed that the helicopter was shot down; CENTCOM said the cause remains under investigation.
Trump’s infrastructure threats
WANA News Agency said Pezeshkian responded to Trump’s remarks about possible attacks on Iran’s civilian infrastructure, writing on X that “Threatening to target it—from transportation networks to the electricity and water sectors—is not a display of strength, but a sign of helplessness in the face of a nation’s will.”
WANA also said Trump renewed his threats during an interview with Fox News, when he was asked whether he was considering attacks on Iranian power plants and bridges and replied: “I’m not going to tell you, but I can do it.”
The same WANA account said Trump expanded the possibility of targeting Iran’s domestic infrastructure, saying he was “on the verge of ordering new attacks on power plants and bridges in Iran,” broadening potential targets beyond military facilities.
An Anadolu Ajansı report said Pezeshkian told that “the threat to strike vital infrastructure is not a display of strength, but evidence of impotence before the will of the people.”
An Anadolu Ajansı account also said Trump announced that the United States would deliver “another strong strike” against Iran on Wednesday, after saying “we delivered a strong strike to them yesterday (Tuesday), and we will deliver another strong strike today (Wednesday).”
Negotiations and escalation risk
NDTV Profit framed the renewed threats as happening while talks looked “Derailed,” saying Trump hinted that new US strikes on Iran might be near and warned that military force was still an option as diplomatic efforts continued to stall.

NDTV Profit quoted Trump saying “I may keep going,” and added that “They had a chance to sign a deal and survive.”
An Anadolu Ajansı report said Tehran and Washington have been negotiating since the start of the current ceasefire on April 8 to end the war that the United States and Israel began against Iran on February 28.
An Anadolu Ajansı account said that following the stall in negotiations, the United States imposed a blockade on Iranian ports since April 13, including those on the vital Strait of Hormuz for global energy supplies, which it said has been disrupted since March.
In response to Trump’s threats, Mehr News Agency said Pezeshkian wrote that threatening to target critical infrastructure—from transportation networks to electricity and water utilities—is “not a show of strength but a sign of desperation in the face of a nation's will.”
