Muse Voice Goes Live
Meta made Muse Voice available to all users in the United States, enabling real-time voice and video conversations with its consumer AI agent Muse. Meta said the feature pairs a talking animated avatar with new underlying models called Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice. Meta said users can customize the default character, a cartoonish figure nicknamed Jolly, and can swap in a person, an animal or another character.
“Muse Voice, a feature that lets users call and video chat with Meta’s consumer AI agent, Muse, is now available to everyone in the U.S.”
Meta said the avatar moves in step with what it is saying, using subtle expressions and gestures timed to the tone of the exchange. Meta said real-time conversations are supported on mobile, the web and Mac, with support planned later for Meta's AI glasses and the forthcoming Muse Charm hardware.
Wang Demo and Jolly
Meta’s chief AI officer Alexandr Wang announced the wider release in a blog post and shared a demo on X. Wang joked about his habit of posting memes and told his Muse that the activity may have landed him in trouble with his boss. Meta said Wang’s Muse, rendered as a fluffy white dog, suggested appending disclaimers to posts that could be mistaken for Meta endorsements.
Meta said users can adjust how the agent sounds by describing the voice they want and letting the system choose, or by picking from options in the avatar settings. Meta said the company is betting that giving the assistant a face and a voice will deepen users' attachment to it.
Charm Wearable Next
Meta said the rollout precedes the planned launch of a small Tamagotchi-like wearable, Muse Charm, before year-end. Meta said the agent's avatar will appear on the device's screen, allowing spoken exchanges in which the assistant answers questions or carries out tasks. Meta said support for Meta's AI glasses and the Charm device is expected later, after the initial mobile, web and Mac availability.
Meta said Muse Charm is planned before the end of the year, and it described the device as a Tamagotchi-like portable device. Meta said the video chat relies on two new AI models, Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice, and it framed the avatar as a differentiator against rivals that offer voice chat without a persistent visual character.
