Cocaine seized off Mexico
Mexican Navy personnel seized more than 4 tons of cocaine off the coasts of Chiapas and Oaxaca, with Omar García Harfuch saying the operation involved maritime surveillance and resulted in three vessels being secured and 13 people detained.

BorderReport said the Mexican Navy seized 4 tons of cocaine in waters off the coasts of Chiapas and Oaxaca, and Harfuch posted that the navy seized three boats and detained 13 individuals in addition to confiscating more than 4 tons of cocaine.
Aristegui Noticias put the figure at “approximately 4.4 tons of cocaine” seized on four vessels, with 16 people detained, and said surveillance operations along the Pacific coast allowed authorities to locate and intercept the vessels allegedly used to transport the drug.
Excélsior described the seizure as “more than four metric tons of cocaine” being transported on three vessels off the Pacific coast of Mexico, and said the operation also left 13 people detained while investigations continued to determine origin and destination.
Officials call it a blow
Ronald Johnson, the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, described the seizure as “another hard blow against the cartels,” and said in a post on X that the actions were “dismantling criminal organizations and preventing millions of doses from reaching our communities.”
BorderReport also quoted Johnson saying “These actions are dismantling criminal organizations and preventing millions of doses from reaching our communities,” and said he praised cooperation between President Donald Trump and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Omar García Harfuch said the operations prevented “millions of doses (of cocaine) from reaching the streets,” and he added that under the current administration the navy has seized more than 80 tons of cocaine in the waters off the coast of Mexico.
Aristegui Noticias described how naval personnel detected suspicious vessels off the coast of Oaxaca, seized 127 bundles and 42 bricks containing about three tons of cocaine, and detained 10 people during that inspection.
Nayarit attack and next steps
Alongside the maritime seizures off Chiapas and Oaxaca, multiple reports said Omar García Harfuch described a ground operation in Nayarit where sailors repelled an “armed aggression,” leaving a sailor injured and one of the gunmen killed.

BorderReport said Harfuch announced a subsequent operation on land in the state of Nayarit, where sailors reportedly repelled an “armed aggression,” and said the navy seized a firearm, magazines, and cartridges.
Cúspide México added that Navy personnel were shot at and repelled the attack in Aguamilpa, in the municipality of Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, and said the clash left a Navy service member injured and a suspected aggressor dead.
Aristegui Noticias said the detainees and seized items were placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, pending determination of the narcotic's final official weight, and it also said Harfuch stated the operations represented a significant blow to the operational and financial capabilities of the criminal groups.
