Henry Pollock Signs Northampton Saints Extension Until Summer 2028 After Contract Stand-Off

Henry Pollock ended his contract stand-off with Northampton by signing an extension with the defending Prem champions. Pollock told BBC Radio Northampton, "I am very, very happy to sign here," and he said it was "a very easy decision" to stay at Franklin's Gardens. Pollock's new terms tie him to Northampton until the summer of 2028, and the deal raised the prospect of talks restarting in around a year's time.

Pollock's advisor Eddie Hearn had been talked up the 21-year-old as a "seven-figure player" during negotiations, but the BBC said the exact level of Pollock's pay increase is unclear. Pollock's previous contract, signed in December 2024, is understood to have been worth about £150,000, and the BBC said his new deal is comfortably ahead of the average annual salary in the league (£191,000).

ESPN said sources told it the new contract is worth in the region of £400,000 a year, while the BBC said some sources valued his new contract at £400,000 a year and others involved in the deal say the figure is higher. Pollock said, "I'm massively happy to re-sign with Saints, my boyhood club," and he added, "For where I am in my career, this is exactly where I want to be." Phil Dowson said Saints were "delighted that Henry has committed his future to Saints," and he described Pollock as "a young man of outstanding character."

The BBC said Pollock's profile has exploded over the past two seasons after appearing for England and the British and Irish Lions, and it said he made his Test debut off the bench against Wales in March 2025. The BBC also said Pollock has appeared in each of England's past 12 Tests, with his only start coming in a 42-21 defeat by Ireland in February.

Pollock said Saints have the squad depth and belief to defend their English title, and he told the BBC, "We have the squad depth and the belief in this group that we can do it."

Pollock said, "Let's see, hopefully we can create some magic along the way. Let's write a new story," as he targeted more success with Northampton.

Dowson said Pollock is already taking on leadership responsibilities within the squad and that his understanding of the game gives him "a huge platform to keep progressing."

The BBC said Pollock's pay puts him well ahead of most of his contemporaries in the Prem, and it said only 4% of Prem players were paid in excess of £400,000 a year in the 2024-25 campaign.

Pollock also said he was still open to offers in the past, raising the possibility of a move abroad or even to another sport, but he insisted remaining at Northampton always seemed the most likely option.
