NextSlide joins ChatGPT
OpenAI acquired presentation startup NextSlide, and the NextSlide team moved to work on ChatGPT, with the deal completed earlier this year but publicly confirmed later.

NextSlide founder Ahmed Beshry said the startup’s product was built “that could turn prompts, notes, documents, or research into a polished, editable presentation.”
Beshry framed the mission as making visual communication more accessible, saying “to make visual communication more accessible and help more people express their ideas clearly.”
TechCrunch reported that NextSlide’s website displayed Beshry’s note announcing the move, and that the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Timing and founder remarks
Beshry told audiences that the acquisition announcement was delayed, writing that it was coming “a few months late,” because the acquisition took place “earlier this year.”
In the same TechCrunch account, Beshry said the team would “continue pursuing that same mission: building AI products that help people create, communicate, and turn their ideas into meaningful work.”
Storyboard18 also reported that Beshry said the deal was completed earlier this year but that the announcement was made only recently, and that the NextSlide website now carries a message from him about the team’s move to OpenAI.
BigGo Finance similarly said the deal was completed earlier this year but publicly confirmed on August 8, 2026, and noted that financial terms were not disclosed.
Broader AI workspace bet
Startup Fortune described OpenAI’s acquisitions as part of a push to make ChatGPT “the place where the work happens, not the assistant you ask before moving back to another app.”

It also pointed to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Health rollout, saying OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Health in January 2026 and said in July 2026 that Health was rolling out to U.S. users 18 and older on web and iOS.
The same article said OpenAI’s Copilot advantage in PowerPoint is that “Copilot in PowerPoint can create a presentation from a prompt or from a Word document for eligible Microsoft 365 users.”
Against that backdrop, Startup Fortune argued that presentation generation is a harder habit than one-off slide creation, and it cited Gamma’s business traction including a $68 million Series B led by Andreessen Horowitz and $100 million in annual recurring revenue with 70 million users.
