Condolences in Doha
Qatar’s former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani died on Sunday at the age of 74, and President Ahmad al-Sharaa traveled to Doha to offer condolences to Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
“Former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who ruled Qatar from 1995 until his abdication in 2013, has died at the age of 74, the government announced”
In Doha, al-Sharaa extended condolences to Sheikh Tamim and the ruling family, praying that God grant the deceased His abundant mercy and forgiveness, and bestow patience and solace upon his family and loved ones.

SANA said al-Sharaa arrived accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shibani, Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin al-Saleh, and Minister of Tourism Mazen al-Salhani.
Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch also visited Lusail Palace, where Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim hosted him to convey Morocco’s condolences following the passing of the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Leaders Arrive as Mourning
Regional and international leaders arrived in Doha to mourn Sheikh Hamad, with The National saying Sheikh Tamim received UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Sabah, Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
The National reported that Qatar’s Amiri Diwan declared four days of national mourning beginning on Sunday, with flags flying at half-mast and work suspended in ministries, government agencies and public institutions from Monday.

Anadolu Ajansı said Qatar’s emir received mourners at Lusail Palace on Monday, with QNA naming Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Rwandan President Paul Kagame among those arriving.
The Express Tribune reported that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha earlier today for a one-day visit to offer condolences, and that he and his delegation called on Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at Lusail Palace.
International Tributes and Messages
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed “steadfast solidarity” with Qatar as he extended condolences on the passing of former emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, according to The Express Tribune.

The Express Tribune said the prime minister and delegation conveyed “heartfelt condolences at the sad demise” of Sheikh Hamad’s father, and that Sheikh Tamim thanked the delegation for the “special gesture of travelling to Doha to personally offer condolences.”
Tempo.co reported that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto extended his condolences through an Instagram story, saying, “Indonesia extends its deepest condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani, and the people of Qatar, for the passing of His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani,” on Monday, July 13, 2026.
In a separate statement carried by Middle East Monitor, Hamas offered condolences to Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and described Sheikh Hamad as “a great national and Arab leader,” while crediting him with leading Qatar’s modern development.
