Lawsuit over alleged abuse
Rami Ben Hamo, a longtime household employee at the Israeli prime minister’s residence and the Prime Minister’s Office, filed a lawsuit Tuesday accusing Sara Netanyahu of years of verbal abuse, humiliation and unreasonable working conditions, including ethnic insults and demands that he continue working after undergoing a cardiac procedure. The lawsuit says Ben Hamo was directly employed by the Prime Minister’s Office as a household worker from March 2023 until December 2025, and that during that period he alleges he suffered “extreme abuse” from the prime minister’s wife on a daily basis. Ben Hamo alleges his workday generally began at around 7:30 a.m. and sometimes continued into the middle of the night or early morning, and he claims he worked an average of 60 to 80 overtime hours each month.
The filing also describes alleged incidents involving cleaning and household tasks, including instructions to clean her personal bag and the soles of her shoes with wipes and to wash his hands when entering the house and between tasks, sometimes more than 10 times a day. In one alleged exchange, the suit says Sara Netanyahu told him: “You’re a backward Moroccan.”
Daily insults and overtime
The Jerusalem Post, citing N12 News, said the lawsuit alleges Sara Netanyahu verbally abused and made extreme demands of a person employed at the Prime Minister’s Office “on a daily basis,” demanding NIS 450,000 in compensation. The employee, identified as Rami Ben-Hamo, alleges he suffered “unacceptable” working conditions as well as shouting, insults, derogatory nicknames, and humiliation at the hands of Sara, while fulfilling “every assignment” she gave him. According to the Jerusalem Post, Ben-Hamo claims he worked up to 80 overtime hours each month, an amount beyond what his contract allowed for, and that the treatment worsened toward the end of his employment.
The lawsuit described alleged cleaning-related humiliations, including Sara allegedly telling him that he is a “bad cleaner” who “doesn’t know how to clean,” and the Jerusalem Post said Ben-Hamo also alleged cleaning wipes were thrown on the ground next to him. The Jerusalem Post also reported that Ben-Hamo said he wanted God to “take me [him] away from this job,” after an incident in which Sara allegedly threw a bottle of soda on the floor.
Cardiac procedure and new claims
Ben Hamo’s lawsuit also ties the alleged mistreatment to a cardiac event, saying he experienced chest pain during a workday in February 2025 and was taken to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital for a catheterization procedure. According to the filing, Ben Hamo alleges that after the cardiac procedure the treatment he received at work became even harsher, and the lawsuit includes remarks attributed to Sara Netanyahu such as “Come on, let them find me someone else instead of you.” The Jerusalem Post reported that Ben-Hamo decided to quit after a misunderstanding resulted in Sara throwing a bottle of soda on the floor, and it said Sara then informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the incident once he returned home.
In the ynetglobal account of the same lawsuit, Ben Hamo alleges Sara Netanyahu required him to work late despite his daughter’s condition and kept him at work after the beginning of Shabbat on Friday evening, even though Sara Netanyahu knew he was observant. The ynetglobal account also says the lawsuit describes an incident shortly before Ben Hamo left the residence in which Sara Netanyahu threw plastic bags onto the floor, left him crawling to collect them, and then angrily slammed a bottle of tonic water onto the floor.
