“around 8:30 a.m. at a house along Brooks Road”
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation said deputies with the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office found multiple people shot once they arrived at the home, and one person was taken to Duke University Hospital in Durham while multiple others died.

NBC News reported that the shooting left three people dead, including the suspect, and another person injured, after Caswell County deputies responded just before 8 a.m. to Brooks Road.
Authorities said the suspected shooter was among those dead and that the individuals involved were family members, while the SBI said it was collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses and that there was no threat to the general public.
Sheriff Durden’s remarks
At a news conference, Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden said everyone involved was an adult and belonged to the same family, and he said there was no evidence that the family previously reached out to the sheriff’s office.
Al Jazeera reported that the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation said officers responded to a call just before 8am ET (12pm GMT), and it quoted the SBI statement that "There is NO THREAT to the general public."

ABC7 New York said officials emphasized there is no threat to the general public and that the incident was contained to the property, after deputies found four adults suffering from gunshot wounds.
ABC11 News reported that during a Wednesday afternoon news conference, officials said all victims, including the shooter, are members of the same family and that the shooting resulted from a domestic disturbance, while it added that what led up to the disturbance was still under investigation.
Investigation and uncertainty
Investigators remained at the scene processing evidence and conducting interviews, with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation saying SBI crime scene investigators were on scene and that the agency was processing evidence and conducting interviews.
“The identities of those involved have not been released pending notification of family members”
ABC7 New York said the identities of those involved had not been released pending notification of family members, while it also said officials said all four victims are adults and members of the same family.
WBTV said the state investigators’ release did not say exactly how many people were killed and that authorities had not publicly said what led up to the shooting as of early Wednesday afternoon, even as they said they were collecting evidence and interviewing people.
Across outlets, the reported death toll differed, with NBC News describing three people killed including the suspect, while WWNY said the release did not identify how many people were killed and said multiple others died after deputies arrived.
