Kefraya, Litani, and footage

The Israeli army released footage alleging that Hezbollah elements continued to operate inside a military facility in southern Lebanon and attempted to move combat equipment from it months after the Lebanese army announced it had inspected and addressed the facility. The Israeli army said that under understandings reached in 2024, the Lebanese army was responsible for removing Hezbollah weapons and military infrastructure from southern Lebanon but failed to implement the task as required, allowing Hezbollah to consolidate its military presence, enhance its armament, and establish military infrastructure in the area. The Israeli army added that even during the national shield operation conducted by the Lebanese army in 2025, there remained a large gap between statements and the field reality, because the operation did not succeed in dismantling Hezbollah’s military capabilities or prevent continued activities and growth of its military power.

The Israeli army said that in December 2025, through the American mechanism, the Lebanese army was asked to deal with a military facility in the Kefraya area in southern Lebanon used by Hezbollah to store combat equipment, and that later Hezbollah members moved combat equipment and military gear from the facility. The Israeli army said its forces targeted and destroyed the truck, including the combat assets removed from the facility and loaded onto it, after the footage showed Hezbollah members loading combat equipment onto a truck to take it off-site.

Accusations, denial gap

Israeli army Arabic-language spokesperson Lt. Col. Ella Waweya released footage on the X platform alleging that Hezbollah operatives loaded weapons onto a truck to move them from a site in southern Lebanon.

Waweya accused the Lebanese Army of failing to clear southern Lebanon of Hezbollah's arms and of coordinating on occasion with Hezbollah to help them move their weapons, and she said the Lebanese Army was requested in December through the U.S.-led monitoring mechanism to address a Hezbollah military facility in the southern town of Kafra.

Waweya said, "Hezbollah operatives were still moving weapons out of the facility months after the Lebanese Army's announcement," while the information did not include a direct response from the Lebanese army to these accusations.

Major General Nicolas Tabet said the military’s commitment to upholding state authority and the monopoly on weapons continued, while field developments included an Israeli explosion in al-Khiyam and a remotely controlled unmanned vehicle traversal near a Lebanese army point at the entrance to al-Mansouri.

Fhemi from the south, Nabih Fawzi Fhemi, toured the south and affirmed that Israeli assaults are "unacceptable," calling for translating Arab support for Lebanon into practical steps.

Escalation risks and UNIFIL

Al-Khaleej reported that the Israeli army raised the alert status of its forces on the northern border for fear that Hizbullah would initiate war before the Israeli elections on October 27 of the current year. The same report said Israeli artillery targeted the towns of al-Manasouri, Sarbin, Beit Yahoun, and Zuṭur al-Sharqiya, while air raids reached the towns of al-Qantara and Beni Hayan, and it described Israeli demolition operations in the tents in al-Khiam and Kufartabnit and Zuṭur al-Sharqiya. The report said that at midnight the night before last, Israeli forces blew up the Mabarrat School in the town of al-Khiam in south Lebanon, and it placed the field escalation ahead of a Tampa meeting in Florida, USA on October 20.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he does not trust the Lebanese state to disarm, while Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri affirmed that official Lebanon and all Lebanese are united and insist on the necessity of keeping UNIFIL forces in place. Lebanese Defense Minister Michel Mansi said extending UNIFIL remains the most appropriate option to avoid a vacuum in south Lebanon, until a suitable alternative arrangement is reached under UN auspices and in close coordination with the Lebanese army.
