Airstrikes in South Lebanon
Israeli airstrikes targeted the surroundings of the towns of Kafr Tibnit, Al-Nabatiya Al-Fawqa, and Al-Qantara in southern Lebanon, according to an Al-Manar correspondent reporting from the area. Al-Manar reported that Israeli warplanes struck the vicinity of Nabatieh Al-Fawqah and Kfar Tibnit.
In Beirut, a Lebanese judge ordered two Hezbollah officials to appear for questioning over their alleged involvement in a delivery of explosives seized by authorities this month, a judicial official told AFP. The explosives case centered on arrests of two suspected Hezbollah members accused of transporting more than half a ton of explosives, which Hezbollah later said were part of its “capabilities” to be used against Israel.

Hezbollah explosives and state authority
The Lebanese judge ordered two Hezbollah officials to appear for questioning “after initial investigations… established their identities,” while security agencies worked to locate them and bring them into custody. Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah said the explosives belonged to the terror group, demanding the shipment be returned and calling for those arrested to be released, in a rare admission by the terror group.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged Lebanon not to return the explosives after the seizure generated heated public discussions. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam vowed that authorities “will deal with weapons outside the legal framework with the required firmness,” and President Joseph Aoun said the army and security forces were “implementing the government’s decisions on extending the state’s authority… and confiscating weapons and ammunition.”
Israel links Iran and Hezbollah
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is “committed” to bringing down the Iranian regime, which he said will in turn topple Hezbollah in Lebanon. Netanyahu told an audience at the opening of the academic year at the new Tel Hai University in Kiryat Shmona, next to the Lebanon border, that he was “committed to finishing the job.”
Netanyahu said “Finishing the job means bringing down the terrorist regime in Iran,” calling it “the head of this poisonous octopus,” and said “You cut it off, and it will fall.” Netanyahu added that as long as the Iranian regime remains in power, “even if it is battered, wounded and beaten,” it will try again to do what Israel “stopped them from doing: producing nuclear bombs and rebuilding the ‘axis,’” and he said “the elimination of Hezbollah will follow.”
