Gaza raids and casualties

Israeli raids and artillery shelling continued on Saturday across the Gaza Strip, leaving “toppled lives and wounded” as humanitarian and health conditions deteriorated, according to Al-Jazeera’s correspondent Shadi Shamia.

Shamia said the ongoing Israeli raids resulted in the martyrdom of four citizens in different areas of the enclave, including Basir, the son of the Gaza Health Ministry’s director, Dr. Munir Al-Birsh.

He added that the most recent raid targeted a civilian vehicle in the Sheikh Rihan neighborhood in the northern Gaza City, and that the fire engulfed it completely before a charred martyr’s body arrived at the Al-Shifa Medical Complex along with several injured, including two girls.

Shamia also described another Israeli raid west of Jabalia refugee camp that resulted in one Palestinian martyr and another seriously injured, and he said Israeli drones flew at low altitudes over Gaza City.

The Al-Jazeera Net report said Gaza Health Ministry data showed repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire in place since October 2025 had led to 1,386 Palestinians martyred and 4,784 others wounded up to last Thursday, bringing the total number of martyrs since October 7, 2023 to 73,821 and 174,897 injured.

Named deaths and competing counts

Al-Jazeera’s Shadi Shamia said the raid on the civilian vehicle in Sheikh Rihan led to injuries among passersby, including two girls, and he reported that rescue and civil defense teams arrived to extinguish the fire and recover the victims. An Anadolu Ajansı report said a Palestinian was killed on Saturday when an Israeli drone bombed a civilian vehicle in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in the north of Gaza, and it said the bodies of a martyr with an unknown identity and 7 injured people, including two girls, were transported to the hospital. Al-Jazeera Net also reported that a Palestinian was martyred by Israeli bombing targeting the Shuja'iya neighborhood east of Gaza City this morning, and it said medical sources reported another martyrdom from an Israeli airstrike on Deir al-Balah refugee camp.

In the same Al-Jazeera Net account, Gaza Health Ministry data was used to state that the ceasefire had been violated repeatedly since October 2025, while Anadolu Ajansı framed the vehicle strike as part of ongoing violations of the ceasefire in effect since October 10, 2025. The Al-Jazirah Net report said the war toll had risen to 73,910 martyrs and 174,914 injured since October 7, 2023, and it added that the number of martyrs since the start of the ceasefire on October 11 had risen to 1,390 while injured reached 4,801.

West Bank attacks and education

Alongside Gaza, Al-Jazeera Net described escalation in the occupied West Bank, saying masked gunmen surrounded a Palestinian home in Khirbet al-Maramij south of Nablus and that settlers set fire to an agricultural room and scrawled racist slogans inciting the killing of Palestinians near Yatta south of Hebron. It also said settlers attacked the main water line supplying the village of Adhmaqiya in the Masafar Yatta area, causing water cuts for about 700 of its residents, and it reported that Israeli settlers carried out 628 attacks just in August across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. In Gaza, Al-Jazeera Net reported that about 400,000 students joined classrooms on Saturday as the 2026-2027 school year began, while the Ministry of Education in Gaza targets about 350,000 students this year and UNRWA adopts a mixed model combining in-person and distance education.

The same report said most schools remain out of service due to destruction or use as shelter for the displaced, forcing students to study in tents and temporary learning spaces or through distance education. Al-Jazeera Net further stated that the Gaza Health Ministry data it cited showed 1,386 Palestinians martyred and 4,784 others wounded up to last Thursday, and it said the total number of martyrs since the start of the Gaza genocide on October 7, 2023 to 73,821 with 174,897 injured.
