Cook’s transition follows Apple’s April announcement that he would move to executive chairman while Ternus becomes CEO from September 1, 2026.

ANI said Cook assumed the CEO role in August 2011 as successor to co-founder Steve Jobs, and it described the leadership change as closing a transformative epoch.

ANI also said Ternus will succeed Cook as chief executive on September 1 and that he has directed Apple’s hardware engineering division since 2021.

TradingKey said Apple’s fiscal third-quarter revenue reached $109.4 billion and that iPhone revenue was approximately $54.25 billion, while Services revenue was approximately $30.74 billion.

TradingKey also said Apple confirmed a partnership with Google to integrate Gemini technology into the next generation of Apple Foundation Models and that Apple Intelligence would combine on-device processing with Private Cloud Compute.

The American Bazaar framed the stakes as an AI-focused era, saying Ternus enters the CEO role as Apple faces questions about whether it can move quickly enough in artificial intelligence.

Smarkupp Studios said Cook’s departure is being discussed as the closing of a leadership era that included Apple’s expansion beyond the iPhone, including Apple Watch, AirPods, and Apple Vision Pro, and it said Apple’s Services business grew into a more-than-$100-billion annual business during Cook’s tenure.
