The Football Place reports that Spurs have identified the Dutch international as a priority signing and believe he could be the final piece needed to transform Roberto De Zerbi's squad.
The BBC frames the situation as a deal that would be far from straightforward because Liverpool are reluctant to weaken their attacking options after Mohamed Salah's departure and with Hugo Ekitike still recovering from an Achilles injury.
The BBC also says De Zerbi reportedly views Gakpo as someone capable of operating through the middle, dropping between the lines to link play before releasing runners beyond him.
In the Netherlands, Voetbal International is cited as suggesting Tottenham's interest has intensified significantly, while people close to Gakpo reportedly believe the 27-year-old is open to making the move to north London.

The BBC’s analysis points to Gakpo’s 2025-26 campaign, saying seven Premier League goals were his lowest return in a full season at Anfield, while also arguing the underlying data remained strong.
It adds that Gakpo ranked in the 98th percentile for shot frequency, the 96th percentile for advanced involvement and the 91st percentile for box threat.
Sports Illustrated says Liverpool’s reported reluctance to sell Cody Gakpo this summer for anything less than $160 million adds a layer of intrigue to Tottenham’s approach to squad-building ahead of the 2026–27 season.
Sports Illustrated also notes that Tottenham have “registered interest” with the player’s entourage, without beginning any formal negotiations or making contact with Liverpool.

London Evening Standard reports that Liverpool currently have no plans to sell Gakpo as they look to sign a replacement for Mohamed Salah, and it says Paris Saint-Germain and France winger Bradley Barcola is top of their wish list.
The London Evening Standard also says Caught Offside report that Gakpo is open to joining Spurs should a fee be agreed with Liverpool, with Spurs encouraged by the player’s representatives during exploratory talks.
En Cancha says Tottenham’s pursuit of Gakpo does not stop their other priority for this summer of 2026, Savinho, and it claims sources in England say Spurs would study presenting an offer formal near 60 million pounds.
Across the negotiations, Les Transferts says Liverpool want to recruit a replacement before considering a possible departure of Gakpo, and it adds that when Tottenham submits an official offer, the Reds will highlight the current state of the transfer market.
