300,000+ Visas Revoked
The Trump administration revoked more than 300,000 US visas since President Donald Trump returned to office, a senior State Department official said Tuesday.
Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Mora Namdar told the US social media platform X, “300,000+ visa revocations and counting. Our message to visa holders is simple: respect our laws or lose the privilege of traveling to the United States,”.

State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said on X that the revocations targeted foreign nationals who engage in illegal activities or pose a threat to national security.
Pigott added, “We have zero tolerance for foreigners here on visas who break the law, commit fraud, or undermine our national security,”.
Acceleration Since January 2025
The State Department said the figure marked an acceleration in the pace of visa revocations in recent weeks. An update issued on August 10 put the number of visa revocations since Trump's current term began in January 2025 at over 175,000.
The federal government continued its sweeping immigration crackdown as the State Department announced the latest figure on X on 20 October. Pigott told X that the Trump administration “has revoked more visas at a faster pace than any administration in history”.

Stated Targets and Criticism
Al Jazeera reported that a US Department of State official said “The vast majority of these revocations were due to criminal activity, public safety concerns, immigration violations, fraud or misrepresentation, or other information indicating the individual was no longer eligible for a visa.” A US Department of State official said “More than 4,000 of the revocations were for aliens who engaged in or facilitated birth tourism,”.
“The vast majority of these revocations were due to criminal activity, public safety concerns, immigration violations, fraud or misrepresentation, or other information indicating the individual was no longer eligible for a visa.”
Human rights advocates condemned revocations involving foreign protesters pro-Palestine protesting the Gaza Strip attacks carried out by Israel, a U.S. ally. Human rights advocates also condemned revocations tied to social media comments about the murder of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
