Missiles toward Aqaba
Iran launched missiles toward Jordan’s Aqaba on Sunday, and the United States intercepted them while the IDF intercepted shrapnel over Eilat, according to Israeli military officials and the Jordanian military.

Haaretz said the Jordanian military reported three missiles were intercepted and that a fourth missile fell in an open area, with no casualties or property damage.
The New Arab reported that Israeli and Jordanian forces intercepted an Iranian missile aimed at Aqaba after Amman denied the city’s airport and seaport were evacuated over a threat.
The New Arab also said the Israeli military warned of the possibility of "spillover" into Israeli territory minutes before the interception, and later said it launched several interceptors toward missile debris to prevent debris impact within Israeli territory.
Haaretz added that residents reported hearing explosions near Eilat and that domestic flights scheduled to depart from Ramon Airport were briefly delayed, while the IDF stressed there had been no change to Home Front Command guidelines as of Sunday.
Sirens, denials, and warnings
The New Arab said air raid sirens were activated in the Jordanian capital, Amman, and other parts of the kingdom, and it quoted Jordanian government spokesman Mohammad al-Momani saying, "authorities have not issued any decisions to evacuate Aqaba Airport or the seaport, and both are operating normally."
Haaretz reported that earlier on Sunday Jordanian officials denied a U.S. Embassy in Amman statement that said authorities had evacuated Aqaba's international airport and seaport because of a "specific and credible threat," and urged U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to either site.
Ynetnews said defense officials do not currently expect an imminent missile attack from Iran, even as they cautioned that the situation could deteriorate rapidly in the coming days.
Ynetnews also reported that Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said, "if Iran launches missiles at Israel, we will strike back with great force, without conditions or restrictions," and added, "The first priority is to strike the launchers."
Ynetnews described how interceptions were visible from Eilat and said interceptor fragments that posed a threat to Israeli territory were destroyed outside the country’s borders, with no injuries reported after debris fell in northern Eilat.
Regional escalation and stakes
NBC News said two U.S. service members were killed Friday while defending against an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack in Jordan, and another service member was missing, as CENTCOM said it launched retaliatory airstrikes on Saturday at President Donald Trump’s direction.

NBC News reported CENTCOM said the strikes were intended to weaken Iran’s "ability to threaten commercial shipping" in the Strait of Hormuz, and it said U.S. forces completed the eighth consecutive night of launching munitions against Iran.
Haaretz said Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei called Donald Trump’s signature on the interim deal with Tehran "worthless," and it reported that Khamenei’s message came after Iran’s deputy foreign minister said Iran suspended implementation of its commitments after the United States violated its own obligations.
Ynetnews said Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned that "the Iranian nation and the Axis of Resistance have unforgettable lessons" for Washington if it continued to pursue war, and it quoted Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi accusing Washington of breaking its commitments.
The New Arab reported that Jordan’s Foreign Ministry summoned Iran’s Chargé d'Affaires in Amman over what it described as “the continuation of Iran's brutal and unjustified attacks,” framing the missile strikes as a violation of Jordan’s sovereignty and international law.
