Alexander brothers sentenced to 30 years each for drugging and raping dozens of women. Judge Valerie E. Caproni imposed the sentences after 11 accusers testified.

30 Years for Alexander Brothers

U.S. District Judge Valerie E. Caproni sentenced Tal Alexander, Oren Alexander and Alon Alexander to 30 years in prison after 11 accusers spoke in court about assaults by the former luxury real-estate stars.

The judge told the men, “Your conduct was monstrous,” and she said their insistence that they have been rehabilitated since getting married and having children “rings hollow”.

The sentencing followed a March conviction for sex trafficking, with ABC News describing that the jury found the brothers guilty on all counts in a federal sex trafficking trial in New York City.

The court heard that 11 women testified during the trial about being sexually assaulted by one or more of the brothers, and the brothers each spoke Tuesday before they were sentenced.

Victims Speak, Brothers Deny

Oren Alexander addressed the packed courtroom first and said, “I am not here to discount what they have said,” referring to the women.

Oren Alexander insisted, “My brothers and I have never drugged or raped anyone,” and he said they never trafficked anyone for sex and never conspired to hurt anyone.

Lindsey Acree told the judge, “This has wasted my damn time. It’s wasted your time. It’s wasted everyone in this room’s time,” and she asked the brothers, “Why? For you. Because you did some really messed up stuff.”

Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Espinosa told the judge that the brothers’ “callousness, carelessness, cruelty” in repeatedly drugging and raping women over many years warranted a life prison term.

What Happens Next in Court

Prosecutors sought life prison sentences while the brothers’ lawyers requested the 15-year mandatory minimum, and the sentencing hearing included victim impact statements in the New York City courtroom.

“Their sentences also include 10 years of supervised release.”
CBS News

CBS News reported that U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald said, “Today’s sentence makes clear that this craven, sinister conduct is extraordinarily serious and will be met with serious punishment,” and he added that the office was “proud to seek justice on behalf of victims.”

CBS News also said the brothers’ sentences included 10 years of supervised release, and it described that the brothers were convicted in March of drugging and raping dozens of women over more than a decade.

The BBC reported that Caproni sentenced each brother to 30 years in prison, and it also said she sentenced each to 20 years in prison for additional crimes, with the men to serve the sentences concurrently.
