World Foundation raised $52.5 million in a locked WLD token sale led by Pantera Capital. Funds will scale World ID's proof-of-human infrastructure across consumer platforms and enterprise services.

$52.5M for World ID
World Foundation secured $52.5 million in fresh funding through a locked token sale to strategic investors led by Pantera Capital, with participation from Bain Capital Crypto, Selini Capital, Susquehanna Crypto, and Eightco Holdings. The funding round is described as a one-year locked token sale, with all WLD tokens sold in the raise tied to a 12-month lockup period. World Foundation said the capital will be used to expand its identity verification technology across enterprises and AI agents as AI-generated content increases bots, impersonation, and deepfakes.
“World Foundation announced it raised an initial $52.5 million.”
The project, previously known as Worldcoin, uses custom hardware devices called Orbs to verify individuals and issue digital credentials while attempting to preserve user privacy, and it says more than 39 million people have joined World Network with over 18 million verified by an Orb. World says its infrastructure has processed more than 475 million World ID proofs since launch as it shifts from building the network to scaling utility.

Executives frame the need
Pantera Capital General Partner Cosmo Jiang said, "The need for Proof of Human is becoming acutely clear with the acceleration of AI development, and we see this in the influx of enterprise traction," as the project positions World ID as infrastructure for proving users are human rather than automated systems. Eightco Holdings board member and chairman of Bitmine Tom Lee said, "World’s technology and proof of human and variations are among the most important building blocks to secure and verify interactions in an increasingly digital driven world," tying the funding to scaling identity technology across enterprise platforms and AI agents. World Foundation describes a one-time verification performed at an Orb that generates a World ID, which it says is securely stored on a phone and unlocks trusted online experiences while keeping data private.
The system is described as using advanced cryptography and anonymized multi-party computation, and the World Foundation says the technology was developed and made open sourced. World ID is also described as being integrated with platforms including Zoom, Tinder, Docusign, Vercel, and Okta as part of the push to bring proof-of-human verification into communications, authentication, and consumer applications.

Phase 3 and what’s next
The funding arrives as World enters what multiple outlets describe as a shift toward scaling utility, with CoinDesk saying the investment comes as it moves from building the network to scaling the utility. CoinDesk reports that World unveiled in April what it called its most significant upgrade yet to World ID, positioning the system as “full-stack proof of human” infrastructure aimed at consumers, enterprises and AI agents. TechBullion says the rollout of World ID 4.0 pushes the mission forward and that it is an enterprise ready infrastructure built for massive scale, while also allowing independent developers to create custom credentials that live securely within the World ID system.
TechBullion also ties the funding timing to a project anniversary, stating the funding news arrives exactly on the project’s three year anniversary, marking July 24, 2026. Crypto Briefing adds that World’s global network has grown to approximately 40 million users, including over 18 million Orb-verified individuals, with more than 475 million World ID proofs generated since launch, as the foundation prepares to add more product announcements later this year.
