Bryan wears Free Palestine

Zach Bryan wore a black T-shirt reading “Free Palestine” during the first of two dates at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, as part of his With Heaven On Tour, and he did not address the shirt from the stage. Fan footage circulated quickly on social media after the moment at Gillette Stadium.

Zach Bryan and his band wore T-shirts reading “Free Palestine” during his concert at Gillette Stadium this week, with the singer not addressing the shirt from the stage. Zach Bryan’s band members were also spotted in matching shirts, and the moment drew attention because Gillette Stadium is tied to the earlier Macklemore controversy.

Macklemore-Kraft dispute

Robert Kraft barred US rapper Macklemore from performing at Gillette Stadium last month, and Arab News tied that decision to Macklemore’s pro-Palestinian stance. Macklemore shouted “Free Palestine” during his opening for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on September 4, expressed solidarity with people in Gaza and the West Bank, and performed his protest song “Hind’s Hall.” Kraft played a central role in removing Macklemore from the remaining U.S. dates of Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour over the rapper’s pro-Palestinian statements onstage.

Kraft confirmed his involvement in a statement, saying he felt a responsibility to speak up when he believed a line had been crossed on antisemitism, while acknowledging that Palestinian suffering is real. Sheeran later said the removal was the promoter’s decision, not his, and that he had spoken directly with Kraft while trying to find a resolution.

What the moment signals

Macklemore has since announced a Free Palestine Tour to take place in Dublin, Paris and London from Oct. 26-30, and it sold out immediately.

Macklemore pledged $1 million from his touring earnings to Palestinian aid organizations and announced a Free Palestine Tour hitting Dublin, Paris and London from Oct. 26 to 30, which he has since said sold out immediately.

Finneas, Aaron Rowe and Lukas Graham exited the tour in solidarity, and Beoga also withdrew from Sheeran’s tour.

Sheeran’s two Gillette Stadium dates were scrapped due to severe weather conditions, even after the tour had bowed to the venue owners’ demands.

All eyes were on whether the shirt makes a repeat appearance on Saturday (Oct. 3), and representatives for Kraft did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
