Cpt. Eliav Haim Tzapalamus was killed during operational activity

The IDF announced Thursday evening that Capt. Eliav Haim Tzapalamus, 21, from Haifa, a combat officer in the 603rd Battalion of the 7th Brigade, was killed during operational activity in southern Lebanon. Preliminary details indicate that an IDF Humvee overturned earlier Thursday during an operation by 7th Brigade forces in the Litani area of southern Lebanon. Capt. Tzapalamus was killed and three other soldiers were lightly wounded. The wounded soldiers were evacuated to a hospital for treatment, and their families were notified. The IDF said the incident is under investigation. Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav eulogized Eliav: “Eliav went out to defend his people and his country and will not return. He was part of the generation of heroes of the State of Israel - a generation of young people with dreams, aspirations, and an entire future ahead of them, who carry on their shoulders an enormous responsibility for the security of the country and the safety of its citizens. A generation that reminds us all what duty, dedication, and love of the land mean." “Eliav is the son of Heli, an employee of the Haifa Municipality, and Benny. Dear Heli, all of us - your friends and colleagues at the Haifa Municipality - are devastated and heartbroken," he wrote.
