Israel's far-right national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir , known for extremist views, .

Using an Israeli reference to the West Bank, he said: "The lives of the residents of Judea and Samaria, of the settlers, the lives of the soldiers, the lives of the police officers, the lives of our fighters are a million times more important than freedom of movement." The Mirror names the soldiers who killed the two men and attributes the army's account, but it leaves the army's claim of an attack on Israeli civilians without the reports that the shooting was at a military checkpoint and wounded soldiers. It says the dead had not been identified when another outlet had already named them. It gives the far-right minister's call to restrict Palestinian movement while no Palestinian under the Hebron closure is heard.

What it gets right

  • “Israeli soldiers shot and killed two men while they claimed had launched an attack”

It names who killed the two men and keeps the claim that they launched an attack attributed to the soldiers.

  • “He did not provide evidence to back up the claim.”

It does not let Netanyahu's claim about a Hamas attack stand unchallenged.

  • “It did not elaborate on the target of the alleged attack.”

It flags that the army's account was unsupported on a key point and calls the attack alleged.
