Israeli army continues incursions in Hebron for 6th consecutive day amid raids, tightened siege

No framing issues found.

The Israeli army continued its military incursions in Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank, for the sixth consecutive day on Wednesday, carrying out raids and tightening restrictions on the city, according to local sources. Local sources told Anadolu that Israeli forces continued raiding neighborhoods in Hebron and towns across the governorate. Additional Israeli forces, accompanied by military vehicles, raided several towns in the governorate and the al-Fawwar refugee camp south of the city around midnight, entering and searching Palestinian homes, the sources said.

The army also tightened military restrictions at the entrances to Hebron. Anadolu cameras documented Israeli forces stopping Palestinians at military checkpoints near the al-Jaladah roundabout in Hebron, searching them and subjecting them to harsh treatment. The offensive began Friday following an attack by two Palestinians that killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded three others. The army later killed the two Palestinians. The Hebron Municipality said in a statement Tuesday evening that the number of displaced Palestinians in the city had risen to 4,969, representing 780 families, as a result of the ongoing military offensive.

The Israeli army arrested 85 Palestinians in the Hebron governorate between Friday and Monday, according to a statement by the Palestinian Prisoner Society, a non-governmental organization. The developments come amid escalating Israeli army attacks and occupier violence against Palestinians across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since Israel launched its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.

About this analysis

Anadolu reports the sixth day of the Israeli army's incursion into Hebron: raids, home searches, tightened checkpoints, nearly 5,000 people displaced and 85 arrests, each sourced to local sources, the municipality or the Palestinian Prisoner Society. It names who acted in every sentence, places Hebron in the occupied West Bank and gives the attack that preceded the offensive plainly. Nothing in it misleads the reader.

What it gets right

  • “The army later killed the two Palestinians.”

Anadolu names the actor and uses the word killed. It does not write the deaths out or blur who did it.

  • “Anadolu cameras documented Israeli forces stopping Palestinians at military checkpoints near the al-Jaladah roundabout in Hebron, searching them and subjecting them to harsh treatment”

The outlet rests the checkpoint abuse on its own footage and names Israeli forces as the ones doing it.

  • “in the southern occupied West Bank”

Anadolu gives Hebron its settled legal status as occupied territory in its own voice. It does not treat that status as disputed.
