Israeli attacks kill 5 Palestinians, wound 32 in Gaza

No framing issues found.

Israeli attacks killed five Palestinians and wounded 32 in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, while a six-year-old girl and a man succumbed to wounds sustained in earlier attacks, according to medical sources. The attacks coincided with Israel’s parliamentary elections. In the latest attack, an Israeli drone strike killed three Palestinians and injured 15 others, five seriously, at a government checkpoint near Muawiya Mosque in the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah in southern Gaza, a medical source told Anadolu.

Sources told an Anadolu correspondent that the strike targeted a Gaza government checkpoint responsible for monitoring commercial trucks entering the enclave through the Kerem Shalom crossing. In northern Gaza, Israeli troops shot dead Mahmoud Samih al-Harsh, 28, on al-Hawja Street in the Jabalia refugee camp, medical sources told Anadolu. Earlier Wednesday, Mohammed Alyan al-Bayouk, 33, was killed and three others, including an elderly woman, were injured when an Israeli drone struck the rooftop of a house in central Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

An Israeli drone struck a group of civilians near Al-Tina Street in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis in a separate attack, injuring five Palestinians. In central Gaza, three Palestinians were injured, two seriously, in an Israeli airstrike targeting passersby on Al-Eshreen Street north of the Nuseirat refugee camp. Another Palestinian sustained moderate injuries when an Israeli drone opened fire east of Deir al-Balah, the same source said.

In Khan Younis, six-year-old Tahani Mohammed Saeed Shalalfeh died from wounds sustained when Israeli forces opened fire in al-Mawasi on Monday. Ahmed Yassin Bseiso also died from injuries sustained days earlier in an Israeli strike on al-Thawra Street in central Gaza City. A fisherman was wounded by shrapnel from a bomb dropped by an Israeli drone off Khan Younis, according to civil defense sources. Israeli gunfire wounded two other Palestinians in separate incidents in Qizan Rashwan and east of Hamad City.

Two more Palestinians, including a child, were wounded by Israeli fire east of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, said a medical source at Al-Awda Hospital. Israeli naval vessels also shelled and opened machine-gun fire toward Palestinians on the beach near the al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City, local sources said. Since October 2023, Israel's genocidal war on Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and wounded over 175,000 while causing widespread destruction affecting around 90% of the territory's civilian infrastructure.

More than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since an October 2025 ceasefire went into effect.

About this analysis

Anadolu reports a day of Israeli attacks across Gaza that killed five Palestinians and wounded 32, and the deaths of a six-year-old girl and a man from earlier wounds. It names Israeli forces as the actor in every attack, names and ages the dead where it can, and places the day within Israel's genocidal war and the post-ceasefire killing. Nothing in it misleads the reader.

What it gets right

  • “Israeli troops shot dead Mahmoud Samih al-Harsh, 28, on al-Hawja Street in the Jabalia refugee camp”

Anadolu names who did the killing, uses a plain verb for it, and gives the dead man's name, age and the exact place, so he is a person, not a number.

  • “six-year-old Tahani Mohammed Saeed Shalalfeh died from wounds sustained when Israeli forces opened fire in al-Mawasi on Monday”

The outlet names the child and her age and says plainly that Israeli forces fired the shots that killed her, rather than leaving her death without an actor.

  • “Israel's genocidal war on Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians”

Anadolu gives the scale of the killing and calls the war genocidal in its own voice, which matches the documented record of the UN Commission of Inquiry's finding.
