Defiant Trump vows he'd 'do it again' as Iran backlash grows and MAGA empire implodes
Defiant Donald Trump has vowed to cling on as US President despite taking an almighty walloping at the ballot box. The US President insisted he was still the boss after American voters gave his Republicans a double kicking, handing Democrats control of both houses of Congress. And the White House rammed home the message with a picture of a thunder-faced Trump declaring: “PSA: TRUMP IS STILL YOUR PRESIDENT.” He appeared to concede that the Iran war caused the election bloodbath.
Trump said: “I think it's largely true because it drove the gasoline up a little bit. At the same time, if I had to do it again, I'd have to do it again.” But Grumpy Trumpy’s MAGA empire was imploding as his own supporters stuck the boot in and Democrats prepared to unleash the lawyers. Even his own deputy appeared to be edging away from the wreckage. Vice-President JD Vance blamed the election disaster on Trump’s Iran conflict, declaring: “The reason we lost is the war.”
His comments sparked speculation that he is already limbering up for his own shot at the White House in 2028. The election bloodbath, dubbed a “blue tsunami”, saw Republican strongholds turn Democrat as voters punished Trump’s party over soaring prices and the war. Trump refused to shoulder the blame, insisting: “I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!” But his MAGA faithful are raging, with right-wing podcaster Matt Walsh branding the results “a political catastrophe of historic proportions”.
Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones even believes Trump is secretly working for the Democrats. He fumed: “He’s the ultimate Democrat sleeper cell and he works for them. I’m 100 percent at war with Trump.” And Trump could face looming legal wrangles. Democrats are preparing to investigate his handling of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and the Trump family’s business deals. Robert Garcia, who is set to lead investigations, issued a chilling two-word warning in which he simply said: “Lawyer up.”
Billionaire Trump cheerleader Elon Musk could also face scrutiny over his controversial DOGE cuts and whether his Tesla and SpaceX empire benefited from his White House links. Democratic senator Edward Markey joked: “They are going to need to plant new forests for all of the subpoenas we’ll be printing.” Trump could even face a third impeachment attempt, although booting him out of office would require a huge Senate majority. The 80-year-old can still issue orders and block laws, but Democrats can now scupper much of his agenda.
Fears have been raised by some observers that a cornered, vengeful Trump could lash out by unleashing atomic hell on Iran. But Dr Tim Galsworthy, a lecturer in history at Lincoln Bishop University, reckons political insiders would move to neutralise the threat before he can strike.
