Iran's attacks on US bases caused 'major damage that hasn't been communicated to American public' - report

Iranian missile and drone attacks have inflicted extensive damage on multiple US military positions across the Middle East, affecting buildings, vehicles and at least one highly specialized surveillance aircraft, a report by CBS News reveals. The destruction appears more serious and geographically widespread than previously understood. A deployed service member told the American media outlet that the full scale of the damage had not been communicated to the American public. “We’re standing there with our eyes closed getting punched in the face,” the service member said, expressing frustration about the vulnerability of American forces stationed in the region. https://x.com/i/web/status/2100050062319796509 This post can't be displayed because social networks cookies have been deactivated. An attack directly hit the rear section of a Boeing E-3 Sentry, severing its tail from the burned fuselage. The four-engine E-3 carries a large rotating radar system used to detect airborne threats, collect intelligence and help coordinate military operations. Serious damage to the aircraft could therefore affect more than the base itself, potentially reducing US surveillance and command capabilities across the region. Extensive damage was also revealed at Camp Buehring in Kuwait, a major staging area for US Army personnel, armored vehicles and aircraft. The attacks were part of a broader Iranian campaign in recent months against US and partner positions across the Middle East. According to a Pentagon inspector general’s report, American bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan sustained damage, with hundreds of buildings and other structures damaged or destroyed. The Defense Department estimated that $3.7 billion was in lost equipment damages from attacks.
