Over 50 Iran Army units deployed along borders at start of US-Israeli aggression: Comdr.

More than 50 combat and support units of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force were deployed along the country’s borders at the start of the second US-Israeli war of aggression to counter enemy threats and defend Iran’s frontiers, the force’s commander says.

In an interview with Fars news agency published on Saturday, Brigadier General Ali Jahanshahi said the deployment stretched from the northwest to the west and southwest, and from the east to the southeast, including the Makran coast.

He said the operation involved more than nine million kilometers of road travel, while ammunition and equipment were transported using heavy military vehicles.

The US and the Israeli regime waged their first criminal war against Iran, which lasted 12 days, in June 2025. Their second aggression began on February 28, 2026, and came to a halt in early April after 40 days.

In both wars, Iran’s resistance and successful retaliatory operations forced the aggressors to accept a ceasefire.

The commander said the Ground Force’s readiness in the 40-Day War stemmed from measures taken after the 12-Day War, including revisions to operational plans, changes to combat formations, and equipping units with precision-strike, smart and network-enabled weapons.

Asked about the preparedness of the Armed Forces for another round of aggression against the country, Jahanshahi said that reconnaissance operations have been conducted nationwide to prepare for the possibility of enemy forces entering Iranian territory.

“Areas where enemy aircraft might land or be present—including abandoned airfields—have been identified, and the necessary units to counter such threats have been designated,” he said.

The commander went on to say that intelligence measures have also been taken, adding that the force had comprehensive intelligence coverage of the situation.

The remarks come amid heightened US military activity in West Asia and increasingly hostile rhetoric by American officials against the Islamic Republic.

Tehran has repeatedly warned that US bases and naval assets across the region will be targeted in response to any renewed aggression against Iranian territory.
